Was thinking this the other day while on my run and decided
the definitive top 5 (turned into 7 tho!):
1. Mulholland Drive: The scene where Betty does her
audition, man I almost creamed my pants!!
2. Schindlers List: The bit where that evil prison guard
played by Ralph Fiennes "spares" the life of a prisoner cos
it makes him more god-like.
3. After Hours:[Scorcese]
Rosanna Arquette "I was raped once"
Griffin Dunne "Oh thats terrible"
RA "he took his time though"
GD "how long"
RA "3 hours, actually I was going out with the guy, to tell
you the truth I slept through most of it"
4. Citizen Kane: The bit where the guy describes the girl he
only saw for a second but remembers for every day of his
life.
5. Naked Gun: Priscilla Presly is on a laddder getting stuff
from the attic, Drebin is on the floor looking up [her
skirt]
FD "Nice beaver", as she hands him a stuffed beaver, class!
6. Lost highway: The bit where celebrity killer Robert Blake
phones himself up.
7. Taxi Driver: The bit with Scorcese in the back of the cab
describing how hes gonna kill his wife and her "nigger"
lover, the way De Niro stays silent throughout all this is
genius, you wonder what thoughts are going through his
mind...

What about you guys???

The Trip - peter fonda goes into this illusion with dennis
hopper acting as some sort of judge, reflecting on his job
in advertising and his failed relationships...

Sonatine - Playing sumo on the beach in okinawa...

Hana-bi - Beat Takeshi makes a police car out of a taxi
while his wheelchair bound friend starts to get inspiration
for some really amazing abstract paintings...

Doomed Generation - whole ending!

Bringing Out the Dead - Nicholas Cage's trip.

definetly agree with the first 15 minutes of Akira!

Blimey, i got loads, heres 7 though..

1. The scene near the end of apocalypse now with kurtz
talking about the "horror". So claustrophobic.

2. Blade Runner: Roy meeting his "maker".

3. The D-Day landing of Saving Private Ryan.

4. Godafather 2: Michaels wife threatening to take the
chilrdren, amazing acting by both.

5. Dr Strangelove: Peter Sellers as the US president,
telling the russian president about the crisis: "And, ah ...
he went and did a silly thing. ... Well, I'll tell you what
he did. He ordered his planes ... to attack your
country...Ah... Well, let me finish, Dmitri." Genius.

6. The Big Lebowski: the Dude giving a descrition of his
stolen car to the police.

7. Full Metal Jacket: the opening scene with the Drill
Instructor "welcoming" the troops.

hey big, the shoot out from heat is most definitely
excellent, and really cool on a good sound system, but I
actually prefer the scene where brad bitt is on the way back
to his bird but has to turn around - real clever filming
there.

that's with the colors, turns blue or something? actually i
don't like the rest of the movie: too over the top. and i
don't like the theme that deniro and pacino are basically
the same sort of guy only on the other side of the law.
that's why the shootout surprised me, but on its own its
great too, really gets your adrenaline pumping.
just cant think of other great scenes, im more for great
films.
maybe some das boot
also i liked the arty way the shot through morpheus' foot
was shot in the matrix, some other scenes from the matrix,
shoot out again, too.
furthermore theres this 2 and a half minute shot in 'funny
games' in which nothing happends but which tells a lot, that
was moving, terrible movie though (horrible that is). while
i'm at that: the piano-player too (not polanski but michael
hannekes one): horribly disturbing scenes in that too.
movies i furthermore like:
koyaanisqatski, akira kurasowa's dreams: classic scenes back
to back

nacmat, are you thinking of True Romance?

-the beginning of half baked, when they're all kids, "i've
never been so thirsty, in my ENTIRE LIFE"
-the opening scene of Narc. that's an excellent movie if
you haven't seen it
-that part in gantz graf where the grey cube goes insane

starship troopers at the end, the part where they say their

robocop and troopers)

Reservoir Doggs: The madonna speach.

".. see, the pain is reminding her of what it was once like
to be a virgin. Hence, 'Like a virgin.'"

The Big Lebowski: The Jesus Qintana bowling to
Gypsie Kings' "Hotel California" eagles cover. (remember the
dude hates the fucking eagles.)

Glengary Glenn Ross:
the Alec Baldwin pep talk:
"You see this watch? You see this watch? This watch cost
more than your car."

so many good lines in this 1 scene:

"The leads are weak? The fucking LEADS are weak?? You're
weak."

"Good father? Fuck you! Go home and play with your kids."

"You can't close shit? You are shit! Hit the bricks buddy
and beat it because you are going out!"

True Romance: Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper's
interrogation scene. Lots of good lines in this one too.
"Do you know who i am? I'm the Anti-Christ. You've caught
me in a vendetta sort of mood. You can tell the angels in
heaven, you never saw evil so singularly personified as you
did in the face of the man who killed you."

cant think of any more for now

my top 10 in no specific order:

AKIRA - Tetsuo's mutation into a large horrific monstorous
mass

THE SHINING - "I'm just gonna bash your brains in! I'm gonna
bash 'em right the FUCK in!"

A CLOCKWORK ORANGE - Tables turn on Alex after the
treatment, first bums, then his friends turned cops

FIGHT CLUB - "When the snooty cat and the courageous dog
meet for the first time in reel 3, that's when you'll catch
Tyler's contribution to the film"....
A nice big cock.

PULP FICTION - Samuel L. Jackson's first quoting of Ezekiel
25:17.... "And you will know my name is the lord when I lay
my vengeance upon thee."

THE UNTOUCHABLES - The shootout at the train station as the
baby carraige slowly topples down the steps.

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM - The infamous hallucination where a
mother's room becomes the TV show she's loved so much.

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK - The Darth Vader/ Luke Skywalker
battle. Classic!

PLANET OF THE APES (original) - "Damn you all! Damn you
straight to hell!" Cue statue of liberty shot.

PI - Max's final solution to his tumor. An electric DRILL to
the head.

heh, robocop, when those 'bad guys' shoot him for about 5
minutes with shotguns and automatic weapons without
reloading, or actually suceeding in completely killing him
despite the 2 tons of bullets most likely lodged in his body
(minus the hand that gets shot off) and the nice
coup-de-grace shot right in the forehead. rush him to the
hospital! there's still a pulse!

ok, some favorite scenes of mine!

The Shashank Redemption: The end, where Andy and Red meet on
the beach... most beautiful scene I've seen in a movie I
think!

The Shining: The scene which someone already mentioned,
where Jack is trying to get the baseball bat from his
wife... also the one where he says "Here's Johnny!!"

Apocolypse Now: The scene where the guys are out surfing
while bombs and stuff are falling around them... really
strange and twisted!!

Forest Gump: Lots of good ones here... I really like the
scene though where he meets his son for the first time...
really touching!!

Shine: This is such a touching movie... my favorite scenes
are the ending, where he's playing the piano again in a
concert situation, and he gets a standing ovation... but
also there's a little scene where the nurse is taking him
back to his room, and it shows his feet and he hopes as if
he's playing hop scotch... it's nice!

Star Wars (all three movies): So many classic ones I cna't
list any particulars...

The Fellowship of the Rings: The ending, where the
fellowship is broken... but also the scenes in moria and
lothlorien are really a feast for the eyes...

The Matrix Reloaded: Where Neo is fighting the 100 Mr.
Smiths... amazing!

Jurassic Park: Lots here too... I love it when the T Rex is
chasing the truck, but most of all the raptor scenes...
they're awesome!
