Okay guys, I got this really fucking weird ass message on my answering machine. I actually had two friends in the house and they heard it as it was being left. They way it sounds though... it is rdj, i swear to god! Just listen to it, and think of the way that he odd snare and bass rushes in complex mathmatical equation and bucephalus bouncing ball. let the debate begin |

-i have some friends who are musically inclined, but none are electronically. just me. Okay, well at least it's not just me who thinks this sounds like richard d james. i've had that sitting on my machine for a while now. It was left the weekend of march 10-11th. I went up to visit my parents about 2 hours away. But i had two friends house sitting my apartment. That's why they didn't answer the phone. I'm pissed too cause i lost the message. The mp3 on was recorded with some shitty microphone at a low freq. FUCK, and now it's gone. But EVERYTHING on there is from the recording... no background noises at all. For instance, you can hear some voices around 55 seconds into the song... those are actually on the recording. Also the distorted guitarish sound from the 1min mark to 1:30min actually phases into a voice that says something at exactly 1:31min mark. At 1:34 you hear someone say "... get off the phone-" And during this is that aphex-like-distorted-like guitar solo in the background. Any rock fans around who know might know if that that solo is a sample from somewhere? perhaps jimi hendrix. ... aHHH it even sounds like he says my name really quickly at 1:05... (tony) ... perhaps not, but shit. and what about the telephone tones played starting at 1:06? Here are the numbers/tones he pressed: 4-4-4-(pause)-7-(pause)-4 7and4-(pause)7and7 It doesn't come through that well on the recording, but there is a distorted voice saying something at 1:30-1:32... Man, this is too weird. Really. Richard, are you out there!?!?!? Sh|te, well all i know is that i've listened to aphex twin intensley for the past three years, and I'd like to think that I can pinpoint his 'style.' I mean, regardless of the variance he has in all the music he makes, he still has a certain style that is static throughout all his music, agreed? HELLO?!?!!? RDJ? Did you really call my house? *sigh* |

ya know... and just a thought to those who said that any moron could make what was on that answering machine... just keep this is mind.. I used a shitty mic to record it, so... it sounded a lot better to me, and there were things that did not come through very well and 2 you say that it sounds like a piece of shit, but rdj has written other things like that that sound odd and not really too coherenint... but when it comes off a cd and it says aphex twin on it, we all hail it to be an artwork. if they sound the same, wtf is the difference? i played bucephalus bouncing ball for my aesthetics class, and most people said it sounded like random bullshit... and they all hated it pretty much. but us afx fans know how great of a song it is, and how much time rdj must have put into it... just some perspective. |

Yeah Xepha34893, right on. I'm sure the bearded chipmunk put an extra half an hour into bucephalus and rescheduled his normal 30 songs a day routine to work out that cute little metallic bouncing ball trick. As for the answering machine, I dont think he ever worked out how to use the tele seeing he has more important things to do like rotating the various planets in our solarsystem ect. |
