Edition coming on the 1st of september..

heheheh

i have both the TV versions of Dune and Children of Dune!

i've been waiting for the special edition DUNE movie for a
while. at first i HATED it cos it's nothing like the Frank
Herbert Book......and i thought blasphemy! however i can't
resist Sting in those lil wings.....hahahahha and i grew to
really enjoy it. they've shown two different versions on the
Sci Fi channel here, one is about an hour longer than the
original which shows the story board drawings from the movie
along with commentary. i'm wondering if thats the Xtra's on
the special edition? but i dunno......

anyway if you buy DVD's the week they come out than Best Buy
almost can't be beat in price.....you can save from 2-10
bucks on DVD's only if you buy them the week they come out
or pre-order....thats usually where i go.

electro....check the sunday paper ad's for the best buy
flyer, and see the deals they have on DVD's......they really
are GREAT deals sometimes!
i'll check out playusa.com.....cos it's the only one
mentioned i've not heard of.

Be careful about the special edition of Dune. I was reading
a little about it on imdb.com - it seems to exist as an
Australian Region 4 DVD.

People have different opinions of the original Dune (I like
the visuals, otherwise it's a bit of a messy mess) but the
general consensus was that this extended cut was a travesty.
So I recommend watching it before buying first! I haven't
seen it yet.

P.S. Did you like Lynch's or the Sci-Fi version of Dune
more?

Lynch's version perfectly captured the way I envisioned the
book, that's why I love it.

that's what I've read about the tv-version of Dune.

they also sell that one at play.com, but as I said, there's
another edition coming..

no worries on the region 4, i'd only buy it locally which
means it would work on my player.

the lynch movie DUNE was OK.....i had read all of Herberts
novels and it didn't fit at all with what i had envisioned
in my head. i thought a lot of the special effects were not
very special, and some of the props.....especially the worms
just didn't CUT IT. but Kyle McC. who played Paul was
AMAZING......and as i said before STING was a total babe!

the TV versions were very good. i have BOTH special edition
DVD's. i didn't like the dood that played Paul tho, he was a
TOTAL wimp, not believable in the part. but it was much
better visually for me and i found the FX to be
tops.....CHILDREN OF DUNE was even better tho......and both
peepz that played the twins were excellent, the FX were even
better in that.

either way if it's a good price i'll prolly buy the lynch
film Dune......it's worth having for a sci fi fiend like
myself =0)

hehe, I just copped that one off of playusa.com (after
doubting for about a year) but at the time of ordering it
was 98 dollars, now they've upped the price again, the
gits!
But yeah it's a luverly boxset, and yeah it's lush, but shit
it's expensive

Dixon's?

Before you buy one, visit the excellent site dvdrhelp.com
and make sure it has the features you want.

I have a Philips 724 and I recommend it. It's an inexpensive
progressive scan player that plays about anything I throw at
it.
