yes, funkmaster, you are qualified to download. i would,
however, reconsider that career in humor. ; )

I'll listen to it now.

This is what i imagine seefeel to sound like, I only say
that because i've never heard any original tracks by them.

I quite like it but there is not enough going on in there to
keep up my interest, If you could a few other subtle
background things that would improve it alot.

offline plaidzebra from so long, xlt on 2003-07-20 00:28 [#00787089]

this is the first complete mix, i suppose it is a somewhat
rough mix. it's much more upbeat than seefeel. i think if
you turn it up very loud you will hear that there are
actually many elements. maybe the distortion covers things
up a bit. but then again, it's a pop song, so simple and
straightforward, mostly.

i'm not trying to imitate seefeel, my bloody valentine,
slowdive, boo radleys, pale saints, ride etc but if you know
and appreciate any of these bands you'll have a better idea
of where this track is coming from...

anyway, skink, thanks for listening!

marlowe, what does your track sound like? you must like the
massive guitar melody sound if you came into this thread...

one last cast for anyone who likes their electronics mixed
with abrasive guitar and sweet melodies. the link is down
there at the bottom.

i listened a few days ago, but forgot to say anything.
very nice. i've been into the whole shoegaze thing for a
while now, and its neat to see all the new electronic
artists who are sort of reviving the sound.

interesting.. i like the atmostphere created with this, but
i find it a little too distortion-y kind of at times.. this
song is an interesting combination of sounds/general styles,
some of the percussion and bass sounds remind me of video
game music, which makes it more interesting..yet at times a
little cheesey sounding, especially the cymbal sound used
ocassionally.. i like the layered, interesting vocal
clips/samples used..
overal a good track, i don't usually listen to stuff like
this much, but this was well done.

thanks for the comments, q4z2x.

i'd really like to hear what alnuit thinks, since he's so
fond of the style.

plaid, me likes the track! =)
i would have added more ambient flourishes and an
overabundance of reverb to the mix if i were to produce it,
but that's just my personal preference. all in all, the
only thing which slightly annoys me is the synthetic bass
underlying the tune - just a tad too old-school for me.

you may want to look into this link for some fantastic
shoegazer-inspired indie pop:

manticore, glad you liked it. i thought there was an
abundance of reverb already!

funny that you found the bassline annoying. after i added
that, i thought, yeah now it's really great! so it goes
with taste... maybe that's what's best about making your
own music, you don't have to worry about pleasing anyone
except yourself.

this track is starting to grow on me more and more.. nice
job.. i like when song's are like that.. not able to be
fully appreciated until listened to multiple times..

agreed.
for some peculiar reason, i am most pleased with my own
musical creations when i manage to go out of my way to make
them sound "difficult" and/or unconventional in terms of the
song structure. for this i have to point the blame at DJ
Shadow for forever ruining my appreciation of conventional
rhythms and song arrangmenets with my favourite track of his
"building steam with a grain of salt", that bastard!

have you heard master musicians of jajouka? that'll shake
your rhythmic foundations for sure.

i always liked the so called shoegazer sound but so many of
the tunes are downbeat and melancholy, i wanted to make
something more upbeat. this track was inspired by a friend,
who is his own worst enemy. i wanted the track to be full
of that childlike "come out and play" feeling.

thanks again for listening! and for offering your thoughts.
i have a huge file of xltronic artists and it's still a
drop in the bucket of what people post. hard to keep up
with the deluge, especially when you're limited to 56k like
me!

Damn...never even read this. I hate it when this happens. I
never even imagined that I would ever have a message left
for me specifically either here or anywhere else.
Downloading it right now, Plaidzebra. I'll listen to it
tonight and let you know what I think as soon as I have a
feel for it. Sorry I am not more regular and did not look at
this post for so long...
