dont know the tracklistings, anyway....there is one track
on this (somewhat mediocre) album made up of drum recordings
that have then been re-spliced to create a manic beat.
anyone else know its name and understand how ahead of its
time this must have been?

if you're on about nick masons track its dreadful

but the gilmour track the narrow way is pretty good and
granchester meadows by waters has a certain summery charm

a lot of hit and misses i know, but looking into it i always
thought you could forgive for what it was trying to achieve.

My uncle is into Jazz in a big way and in the early 80's he
went to the states for a festival, anyway he has an audio
recording of the event. At this festival they had four
drummers simultaniously drumming trying to keep to sounding
decent. For the most part it sounded a mess but at certain
points they are definitely drumming to the same basic
rhythm. Early drill it sounds like. I am trying to get him
to email me a copy of the track :P

Ummagumma is not the best or most interesting release, but
worth it for Several Species of Small Furry Animals etc.
Animals is dark and a little boring.
I've forgotten what point I was going to make

psychedelic mood
loved it at the time
...cannot relate to it now
...i need digital electronic music

hmmm well pink floyd was pretty much ahead of there time
in one million ways really.... i'd ummagumma is the "worst"
release, with the possilbe execption of atom heart mother.
however both these albumns can still be fun listening. but
animals is great one of my favs for sure...

i think ummagumma is the best release so far, awesome sounds
on it, animals sucks, ts not dark at all, the whole thing
sounds kinda like dave matthews(obviously floyd is first but
all it is is acoustic guitar and boring guitar solos really)

When I said Animals was dark, I meant texturaly. I suppose
"gloomy" would be better than dark. And Atom Heat Mother
isn't bad at all! I really like that one, and the fact that
the drums aren't timed right always tickles me. I'm easily
amused like that.
Meddle is the best album. Or Piper At the Gates of Dawn.

meddle is really awesome!! you can't beat Echoes!! But The
Wall takes the cake for me, as far as Pink Floyd is
concerned... that album is just epic... and I really don't
think there is much filler, if any, at all... I pretty much
love each track on it, and think it works well as individual
tracks, and especially as a whole...

I prefer the live disc to the studio disc - apart from
Grantchester Meadows, it's extremely mediocre.

I think they're referring to the Mason suite, which is
something about a Grand Vizier's tea party or something ! I
hardly ever listen to the studio disc, so I can't remember
if that one is Mason's. but I think it is.

the narrow way by gilmour - why on earth didnt he do more of
this kind of thing when he had the chance? i usually slate
him as a songwriter but this is by far the best thing he
ever wrote
