 | i got Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones a while ago
 wow

 amazing

they were $200 canadian, and worth every penny
although i didn't have to pay for them.. they were a
 birthday present

anyway its like suddenly having twice the resolution on a tv
or moniter.. i can hear all kinds of details i cant on my
 speakers (which aren't bad)
its like what sounded like a big jumble of sound before...
now i can hear each individual sound... i love it

 | cool. it's really better buying really great headphones than speakers. I mean if you're going to use a certain amount of
cash, they'll sure be a lot cheaper (like you mentioned you
got yours for 200 canidian)... I have a decent pair of
headphones SONY (I happened to destroy my Sennheiser), but
now that you mention it I haven't tried on any really great
 ones to compare...
who knows what I'm missing out on here?

 | yeah the thing about headphones is they're so CHEAP!
speakers may ultimately sound better, but you need to spend
a lot more compared to headphones to get the same quality,
and have to worry about the acoustics of the room and shit
 like that

when i got these, i tried out all the headphones they had in
the store... including some $1,000 + models that were quite
 amazing
BUT the increase in sound quality is more and more subtle
the more you spend..... so the difference between $50 and
$200 is more noticable than between $200 and $600

 | Yeah $200.00 Canadian seems to be around where the headphones get good. I've gotten some nice cans in that
 price range.

Now don't crank em till you go deaf, mind you! I find with
good cans I hear more detail at lower volume anyhow.

 | I have a pair of Sennheiser HD590s which are pretty damn good. The thing I really like about headphones over speakers
is the much more noticeable stereo separation.

 | i've got ¤ 95 Koss porta pro headphones and they're great except that i have long hair so i have to clean under the
mosses quite often because the hair get trapped under them
and it provokes buzzes on the basses. (it look me months to
understand that this buzzing was due to my hair and it
 wasn't the headphones who were defective!!! ' _ ')
