Yeah. I sent this label my songs in an e-mail and they replied with this... Hey what's up man? This is Neil ( the demon head ) Just replying to your mail. I have checked out your sound and dig it. It's electro-creative. If you are interested, we could promote your music, sell your music etc... We'll work this all out, and give you some space at the web page. Unfortunately, DHP is not at the luxury to pay artists to be on the label or anything like that. All we are able to do right now is work with artists mutually and build a relationship we can both benefit from. If you are still interested, get back with me when you can, and we'll talk about what we can offer eachother. DHP is a fast growing independent society and it's great to have people interested in it. Personally, I wouldn't bother with any of those web site music hosting things for anything other than getting feedback off other musicians... I've certainly never heard of anyone getting anywhere through one of those things - And there's often dark contractual stuff, like they'll own your music and be able to sell it for use in advertising and things... Don't know about that one... But I'm sure they'd be more than happy to use your music and not pay you anything! And the only people who'll hear it will be other musicians who are using them to host their music too. |

most real labels want to get an actual demo from you, not a zebox site. many labels specifically say 'don't e-mail us links to your tracks.' |

True - But I've found most labels you'd want to start out with are more than happy to accept mp3's - I noticed Warp, Mu and Rephlex won't, but they are really the biggest labels in the scene... It's actually not too common for them to sign an unknown artist purely off the strength of a demo - It's only happened to a handful of people - And now, more than ever, they'll really be looking for people with decent reps/track records first. I think the best thing you can do is send out mp3's to all the labels who are willing to accept them (remember warp and rephlex are getting 100's of demos/week - that's why they can't accept mp3's). Maybe send out a few CD's too - It's a good experience - It feels more like a proper finished product. |

no, most labels don't accept mp3s. mp3s aren't very liable representations of your music - all kinds of stuff goes missing or gets added on in the encoding process. |

if i were ever confident that what i had was quality, i'd be more than happy to send stuff out. but...i'm not. and i don't keep up with it regularly enough, i don't think, to actually know what to do with someone's attention once i had it. if that makes sense. *shrugs* and i have no idea how this really applies to what you were asking. just seemed like a good place to throw out some thoughts. *shrugs* |

yeah I think I'm going to try sending out some demos to some more electro-friendly labels and seeing what kind of reaction I get. After looking on the "Demonhead" site I found that other than 'DJ Kick You in the Jaw' most of their acts are shitty metal bands. |
