Perfect Dark

So, to break the ordinary schedule of my boring life, I
decided to walk to seven eleven AND blockbuster tonight by
myself. Well, at blockbuster I rented Perfect Dark for
Nintendo 64. (yes i know this system is a bit old) Well, it
requires the expansion pak for most of the game but I
assumed that it would come along with the game. Well, it
didn't. I did read on the package though that you could play
a certain one player game without it. Well, this mode isn't
much of anything. I was just wondering if anyone has this
game and is it any good because I really can't find out
without the expansion pak. I have goldeneye and I like that.
(both by Rare) Also, are they any other 64 games that anyone
would recommend? (I'm too poor and cheap right now to go buy
a new system)

Wipeout 64 is awesome, and cheap.

Futuristic racing.

than goldeneye

hmmmmmm. i only have a 466 mhz. technology doesn't like me.
would you say the 1st player aspect of perfect dark is
better than goldeneye's? because that's all i'm really
looking for. i know they are both supposed to be great
multiplayer games, but i really don't have anyone to play
them with. and yes, i know how sad that sounds. :)

Perfect Dark is the best game on the N64... the single
player is good, but not as good as Goldeneye's... still well
worth a purchase.

The multiplayer is fantastic though... even if you're all by
yourself. You can put up to 8 bots on the maps (all of them
are big, varied, and GREAT) and customize anything and
everything, save your setups. Hours of fun just senselessly
blowing 8 computer controlled jackasses away. Halo could
have used bots... would have doubled the awesomeness of that
game.

The 4-player mode is almost unplayable unfortunately because
of horrible framerates... the ambition is too much for the
hardware, I'm afriad. But the multiplayer is great with two
people and a bunch of bots, very playable.

You can also play the single player missions on co-op with
someone, which is insanely fun, like Halo.

Man, I haven't played this game in a year... but now I'm
Jonesin' for it badly. I'll fire up the ol 64 tomorrow and
have a go at it on Perfect Agent, never did manage to beat
it all on that setting.

DK 64 and Jet Force Gemini are fantastic games

The best thing about Perfect Dark is that when you shoot
them in the head, their heads bounce. Excellent if you have
one of those thingies that slow down time.

I like using the tranquiliser guns......and how it makes the
vision of your oponent all blurry. The more you shoot them
the worse it gets!

If I recall well you can pick up ammo all the time, you just
have to be economical with it....

If I'm wrong: consult GameFAQs

ophecks, you just said perfect dark was better than mario 64
and zelda, whats going on? perfect dark really isnt all that
great, fun multiplayer but little more, worth it though
since its dirt cheap.

paper mario, both zeldas, mario, stafox, rayman2, f zerox,
space station silicon valley, 1080, wave race, rogue
squadron, conkers bad fur day, res evil2, body harvest are
all worth getting.

Perfect dark is an irritating cumbersome game beneath the
surface.

perfect dark is the best multiplayer game on n64 (followed
by smash bros maybe?). even without the expansion pack i
think you can play 1- and 2-player multiplayer mode and
those challenges. someone correct me if i'm wrong. i don't
really play video game anymore because the only one my
friends ever play is phantasy star online (which i once
loved but now find boring)

Yeah, I didn't really mean it... whatever game I'm talking
about at a particular moment in time is the ''best game
ever''.

Realistically, now that I'm not as excited, I'd only rate
Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 ahead of it... Goldeneye at
number 4.

Star Fox 64 is great, they sure fucked that series over...
Star Fox Adventures was really good, but it WASN'T really
''Star Fox''. And the new one looks underwhelming.

PD is cool. I still plug in now and again and have a game.
The graphics are fucking awful - worse than Goldeneye - and
the 1 player game is dinstinctly unenjoyable but playing
deathmatches on your own kicks ass. King of the hill is a
fave. Liked the 2-mode weapons too. Goldeneye still beats it
for fun with your mates though, I mean, why didn't PD have
the basement on there?

complex was the best mp map and they included it, and the
game looks 10000x better

of time to change it for the better.

Body Harvest was an excellent game on the N64 (graphics were
mediocre but sound and gameplay were top notch)

Who of you here has played this game?

Perfect Dark and Goldeneye are the best first-person
shooters on the N64, and two of the BEST shooters EVER.

Perfect Dark Zero is coming to the Xbox......yes. Way to
buy Rare Microsoft.

Super Smash Brothers is a sick N64 game, if you have other
willing participants.
