 | Well why not just vote on the track you like the most? It wasn't a see-who-is-the-best-remixer competition. I
would say the tracks have already been through the "is it a
remix or not?" filter. All you need to do is commit to which
one you like the sound of best. Jeez, how hard can it be?

 | I don't understand why not. Are you saying that you can't accept that it's a proper
remix unless you can tell what the original is? They
wouldn't have got this far if they weren't accepted as being
 remixes.
Or do you feel that somehow the remixer might be cheating in
 some way?

 | Well that's one of the points I was trying to make. It shouldn't be an issue, whether you think it's a remix or
not. You're supposed to trust that the organisers of any
competition havesome sort of validation before approval and
accepting that they qualify for entry, so you shouldn't have
to consider it. Just accept that these are the ones you need
to choose from and vote :)

 | I think maybe we're misunderstanding each other cos I honestly don't get why this is a problem :(
There's a competition and the judges decide if a remix is
eligible for entry, choose winners, and from those winners
the board members get to choose their favourite one. It
 seems simple to me.

ok, it's not the way I would have done things, but I wasn't
on the voting team since I did remixes instead and can't say
for sure what the behind-the-scenes voting was done, but it
doesn't seem strange to accept the rules and cope with
 them.

In the end it's up to you if you vote or not, but if a
crappy one wins by one vote I'm coming to blame you ;)

 | I agree entirely. I'd love to know whay tracks they were remixing and see if I can tell what bits have been used in
the remix; try to see how it was done or something. It'd be
really interesting, but I think that the shortlisted remixes
should stand on their own and be judged accordingly.
I've accepted that they are remixes and I can hear Autechre
parts in all of them, though I can't place which specific
tracks for all of them. Maybe that's why I don't have a
 problem with them

 | As to whether voting should be based on how much work the remixer did on the song or just how wicked it sounds
overall, that's a personal decision of the voter I guess.
But everyone knows sucess in the music industry mostly has
nothing to do with technical merit. Well, if you idea of
sucess is selling the most CDs that is.
