if someone told you the music you listened to was
unoriginal what would you say to them?

well, I for one think that getting here has been a journey,
searching through genres of music trying to find something
that suits you. I just hate it when at first glance people
who no nothing about a certain type of music I will say
experimental just says it is unoriginal it is usually so far
from the truth, I felt that these musicians were trying to
break boundaries with their originality.

well, yeah...but if someone doesn't see it...you can't be
their eyes and ears for them now, can you...everyone has got
to hear it and experience it for themselves.

a friend of mine told me Pen Expers was not very creative at
all, and that it sucked ass... that it was boring... I said
"WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!? HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT?!?!?"

I can't even imagine how hard it must be to have made that
song!!

but, it's his opinion so I don't really mind...

Most people would miss out on Ae, Oval and the like on first
listen because the dynamics are very subtle.

Their loss.

And I've been meaning to ask you this for a while now...Is
that really you in your (minus the hair of course)..I
mean...are your cheeks really that chubby and red? You look
like a baby.

hehe, yes that's me... the picture is a few years old
though, so I was probably 17 or 18 there... the full picture
is of me holding my little baby niece, but I just wanted a
picture of me for the board, so I cut out my face and used
it... aren't I a cutie?!?!? :)

well, right after I sent this guy Pen Expers, he sent me
Flat Beat by Mr. Oizo... pretty cool song, but still kinda
annoying... but he's more into rock music anyways I think...

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2003-07-10 06:31 [#00772778]

but I listen to all kinds of music too... so we share a lot
of the same tastes in some areas... but some we differ!

he's TOTALLY against Aphex Twin... hehe, I sent him Milkman
one time... he didn't like it... then I tried to send him
Stone in Focus, and he saw the Aphex Twin and said
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! :)

i once lent drukqs to someone. he thought it was boring
because it all sounded the same to him. i thougt that was an
original response..

you should've let him start with Come To Daddy (Pappy mix).
It's accessible and kind of "rockypunkish" but in a very
twisted aphexy way though ;) he'd probably like that song. I
feel sorry for everybody that aren't as open minded as me
when it comes to music :) makes me feel lucky!

You know...Flat Beat ain't half bad when it pounds on the
dance floor...it has a delicious groove.

i always get the feeling 99% of humanity is missing out a
lot of stuff because they are too narrow minded

.. can be a good thing.. imagine hearing ae on the radio all
the time.. or 'mu-ziq's best' in the supermarket ...

a while ago i played 'Squarepusher Theme' for two of my
female friends and they couldn't stand it, they told me to
turn it off! they said they hate this "jazz" music. i
couldn't believe it ...how can people not like this amazing
music?

I think music isn't orginal anymore.
it never was actually. every music style was build on
another. can anyone recommend truly original and inovative
music?? the first one to say autechre will be kicked in the
nuts.
I'm like the only person I know who listens to 'idm' and
ambient music. everyone I know is into techno and d&b and
stuff like that. wich isn't bad music but I prefere idm and
ambient. it's pretty annoying to have a taste in music where
99% of the people I know go "WTF???" when they hear it or
when I drop the term 'idm'.

that is true that if the harder stuff to find was
mainstream, it would suck ass having a bunch of posers
saying that they like it because it is hip to like IDM my
dad said the music i listen to is unoriginal thats why i
posted the question because it upset me

no one i know would say that to me so i would have to assume
it was someone else in theirr body.
then i would rip theirr face off and kill the perrson
underrneath.
