Now that we've long passed this decade, what's your
opinion?

Obviously Rich, Autechre, Squarepusher, and other IDM
visionaries are an answer to that, but any others?

Well, they ended, that's always a bonus.

We'll start seeing the really good products of the 90s in
2008.

let's not forget the second coming of hip hop in the form of
the native tongues (De La Soul, ATCQ, Brand Nubian, etc.),
not to mention the emergence of the turntableist as a
solo-musician... the lovely Shadows, Spookys, and Krushes...
the gift/curse of trip hop... drum'n'bass which turned into
drill'n'bass... and we mustn't forget post-rock either...

"not to mention the emergence of the turntableist as a
solo-musician"

That´s one of the worst things to happen to music in the
last 20 years.

you're full of it man... i get much more from albums like
Deadringer and Endtroducing than i ever will from the vast
majority of music put out in the 90s

dude,.. about a million good things came from the 90's..

I will second my own Tool vote

And the Les Claypool recommendation is spot on too... he's
fantastic

and Chris Cornell

And early Dave Matthews band when they were still funky (I
have an original '93 recording from a concert in Yoshi's in
Oakland before they went mainstream)

And yeah... Nirvana was fantastic

Oh... and the END of 80s elevator music jazz... good lord
I'm glad that ended and some new styles are emerging which
are actually good
