Learning To Drive...

Yeah, so Ill be 20 in a few days, and I dont know how to
drive.

why?

well, I turned 15 and got my permit... but like 3-4 weeks
later, my family moved to rome, where the driving age is 18.
So ive only really drove like 5-6 times ever, in the 3 week
period after I turned 15.

Then I returned to the states, and I was 18... but I was
living in Boston, downtown, so I didnt need a car, and I
didnt have my parents around to teach me...

well, now I am looking at my drivers permit, and its due to
expire in a month... so I need a new official ID... so i
figure if I have to go to the trouble to get a new ID, I
might as well make it a license...

so im thinking about taking driving school...

anyone done this? whats the average cost/time it takes to
get it?

ill be honesy... im kind of afraid of driving... if i had
done it when i was 15, and driven since then... id be
fine... but im 20, and dont know how... it freaks me out

Thank god I don't live in the US....I can't think of any
worse than allowing people like you a licence!

:P

hehe, you know what freaks me out? that your parents can
teach you how to drive and it's found legal.

In this country it doesn't matter who teachs you to drive,
its the theory and the driving test you have to pass.

i would have prefered having my parents teachning me, cause
i think it would be more relaxing (haha! yeah, i think my
parents would be chill about it!) instead of some stranger
who is just like, do this do that, and marking a clipboard
of what ive done wrong

I'm older than you, and I don't have a drivers license. I've
never needed one.
I might get one in the future though, and hopefully we'll
have more environmentalfriendly cars by then...

Wow, I COULD NEVER Imagine NOT having my Drivers License...I
got mine when I was 16.
As for being taught, I guess I was never really taught any
of it, I just knew the rulez and such from riding in a car
my whole life wif Parents, Family and Friends.

Either way, YES MAN, get one, youll love it. Driving school
sucks, but I suppose it can be helpful to your inexpierence.
If I remember right, it was 2 week course.

I've never needed a driving license, because if I ever get
pulled over the lack of license is going to be
insignificant.

ouch, if we had the minimum age of 15 years in our country
I'm sure it would result in about 100.000 more caraccidents
and deaths. Glad we have it at 18, glad I got mine 4 years
back too, since the prices have quadrupled now.

indeed. Parents teaching their 15 year old kids how to drive
= more deaths.

when i learned how to drive, i was so scared! it was very
hard for me to adjust to where i was suppose to orient my
car to the center of the road. i always felt like i was too
close, but in actuality, i would nearly be off the road.
basically, you just get used to it. but the road test is
frightening! i nearly failed mine because i didn't remember
how to park on a hill.
