...cannot play dvd-rs or vcds, correct?

...is one of the worst dvd-players on the market, correct?

why is it that in order to play a dvd I have to turn the
volume up on both the tv and the stereo component almost to
their maxiumums to hear it well enough? I have dolby
digital, dts, and digital out (optic) turned off.. what do
each of these refer to, and what can I do to make the volume
behave as ps2 games, tv shows, cds et al. do?

Hmm, I don't have any problem with my PS2 other than with
VCD's, DVD-r's work OK for me, and I don't have a problem
with the sound.

i heard that this problem will be fixed on playstation 5.
until then, i would buy a seperate dvd player, and a
nintendo gamecube.

just my 2 cents

My PS2's DVD drive sometimes loses its sync halfway though a
film.....the lips don't quite match up with the words, but
then it gets better and disapears.

This bothered me so much so, that I bought a DVD player for
films.

wtf, we have to wait till playstation 5?
what about 3 and 4?!

theo, you can add an extra chip or change the current one.
That way you'll be able to play copied games and also
dvd-rs' and vcds' if I'm not mistaken.
Warning, these changes CAN fuck up your p2 if they're done
by unproffesional 'rebuilders'. There are quite a few in
holland who know how to change/add these chips, I'm pretty
sure you'll find someone in the states that'll do it for ya.
