Chiastic Slide LP 5 EP 7 In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country 26 Mixes For Cash
Hadn't bought any CDs for a few months and my mp3 collection was constantly getting biggesr. I felt guilty and went on a quest resulting in the above rather expensive purchases.
So did I choose well?

the 26 Mixes packaging is quite classy. But some Ae packaging & design is pure shit. LP5 is inside a cool looking all-black case, but there's no album art or any sort of meaningful design, just a list of track names on a lame piece of white paper.
I like my cds to look nice, especially when they're expensive imports. A perception of classiness gives me extra comfort in knowing I spent my money well. Might be shallow of me, but looks do count):

the LP5 package kicks the shit through the packages of the 2 MEN releases. i think the LP5 package is classy and minimal.

Yeah the music IS what counts. I bought all of them despite the lame packaging didn't I?
But I always really like it when I buy a new album with a nice classy design I can enjoy. Thinking of the likes of Dead Cities by FSOL.

The LP5 case is very nice. But that cursed piece of white paper!!! It's damn minimal alright, but I don't detect much class in it. Sorry.

i never heard ep7. But other than that, i'd say it looks like an excellent list of cd's! You did well :-)
Also, chiastic slide has an excellent cover imo. The best cover for any idm-release i've ever seen.
If LP5 would have had more artwork... hm... well it could have been beautiful, but it would have also ruined the minimalism i guess. The black jewelcase would have been just a gimmick, but now with only the white piece of paper, you are forced to look at the black box as an artwork.

Chiastic Slide > i don't have it, dunno LP 5 > 7.5/10, some very good tracks in there EP 7 > 3/10 if you're not in the right mood, 7.5/10 if you are...
In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country > i don't have it but it's a BoC and i already have one so i don't bother
26 Mixes For Cash > excellent, in my top 3 Aphex releases! 9.5/10

surrounded I cant believe you havent listened to ep7... you must... the second half is beautiful if you like chiastic slide... and I think I read that its your favourite.
salma: you did a great purchase, I am still after the boc ep (iabpoitc), 26 mixes is imo a great compilation... its a shame there are stillenough missing remixes as to release a new cd (or an ep)
as for autechre, those are all great... but do you have confield? anyway great choices there...
enjoy!

"surrounded I cant believe you havent listened to ep7"
Yeah, i'll want to buy it eventually. I actually saw it in a musicstore the other day. But it was just a plain jewelcase. I've read on this messageboard that there is also an edition with a special jewelcase... so i'm trying to find that one :-)
"the second half is beautiful if you like chiastic slide... and I think I read that its your favourite."
Sounds very promising!! And you are right, chiastic slide is indeed my favourite autechre-release.

ep7 .. the uk version is rather pretty imo. with those fractral trees or whatever it is, through the smoky white/translucent plastic case ... as for the music, its one of my fav ae releases.

I agree with all of you EP7 lovers...
I had already heard all of the albums on mp3 before I bought them except EP7. When I was in the store I felt that I should buy something I never heard before and EP7 was it.
I listened to all the CDs last night, and I must say they are all amazing. But EP7 really stood out. Maybe it was the novelty value, but I loved that CD so much. It's brilliant, can't wait until I listen to it again later today.

ep7 is probably my favourite release by them. rpeg just slays me - I wish I were a modern dance choreographer so I could make dozens of bodies fly around to that music.

yeah for some reason I was attempting to visualise appropriate visuals to this album, and surreal looking people doing awkard dance moves seemed to make their way into my mind quite often.
Some of them may have been dancing cyborgs I don't remember now, but EP7 is proof that mechanical can be beautiful.

hmm, depends on what you're after
if you like wicked drum n' bass, drill n bass, gabber, speedcore kind of thing try out doll doll doll or find candace - this two are my favs
i only have winter in belly of a snake and higgins ultra low... more so i cant really say, but i like this two a little less than the two above
the thing is i only listen venetian snares when i want to listen hardcore - i havent payed much attention on his easy listening stuff
if you like boc try out freescha-they're amazing, perhaps i like them even more than boc
and tim hecker is currently my favourite artist, so if you get a chance check him :)
