anyone witness the madness at 3am sunday morning when Richard tried to play an unusual abstract rhythmic animal sound/vocal sample set from his laptop and ended up in a shouting match with some prick in the audience?
the Warp party at the Glade was set to shuttdown at 3am but RDJ announced he was allowed to play an extra set if they didn't play "drum music and played vocal stuff instead". ended up with richard crouched behind the laptop twiddling and producing some fantastic sonic stuff, then leaping up to shout "fuck off" at the top of his voice at the heckler, then grinning madly to the rest of the audience, then ducking back down again behind the laptop for a bit, then leaping back up again to shout at the git in the audience and so on. very funny. but unfortunately led to rdj walking off in the end. shame.

didn't see his first set (it clashed with other bands I hadn't seen before), but the 3am one was starting to sound fantastically mad before he walked off. sort of samples/loops of crickets chirping, vocal clicks and pops with sub-bass sweeps, which sort of built up into rhythms.
BTW mon-fri at 8pm next week on bbc3 - more highlights from entire weekend.

Boom Bip disappeared off the list of artists appearing at the The Glade (replaced by other DJs it seemed) - anyone know if they actually turned up at all?

Everything was running late at The Glade. Boom Bip definitely played coz I heard it. I heard it but didn't see it -- I was sitting under a tree too stoned to get up and take a peek.
If I go to Glastonbury next year I'll go in one of those fucking huge motor home things -- fuck all that camping malarky, it's too knackering.
I'm gonna get my nut down now. Wake me up in about 36hours time.

I heard the end of the squarepusher set but to be honest I cant remeber it - i had been drinking beer and smoking skunk for more over 13 hours at that point...
Missed the aphex sets (both) - which I was sad about but Flaming Lips, Mogwai and Sigur Ros were incredible and more than made up for it..

Yep, my cousin always goes in his VW Koombi instead of camping, seems a lot better to me...
On friday night at about 6.00pm Radio on played one of the afx remixes of "We have Arrived" as they were interviewing people arriving. Some lass said she was lokoing forwards to Aphex Twin.

ME TOO!
I saw Plaid (and record a snipit on vid for a mate)... and they were wicked! I think I saw some of AFX's first set, but like many others I was fairly wasted! Gutted I missed Squarepusher...
Lamb on the OneWorld stage were an extremely good alternative to Radiohead... I definately recommend them... especially live... the energy is amazing and they put on a wicked show...slightly more to look at than a couple of weird looking dj's moving faders up n down!

i saw some of afxs second set at glasto, it was almost exactly the same as what he played when he supported bjork, i heard two of the same tracks (the one with monkey noises and one with a voice screaming). for me and a lot of other people he killed the atmosphere. i was just glad id heard it before so i didnt wait around hoping hed play something good (which he didnt according to two of my friends).
Apparently his first set was really good, jungle nastiness, some of his old tunes and lots of techno and gabber. I went to see radiohead, who were a-ma-zing!

yeah Chris Clark was there. Third time i saw him live in one month and he was a bit all over the place this time (music-wise). He played "Dogs" though so it was cool to hear that live for once.
Boom Bip was there as well. Late on (typ Glade) so i only caught the first few tracks as i was going somewhere (cant remember!). Sounded ok to me.
Saw bits of Afx - twas ok. id rather hear his stuff then some of the shit he plays.
Squarepusher - caught the end but what i heard sounded mad. Ive seen him live a few times and he always seems to deliver. They actually dropped his set as he played past the curfew. :)
Plaid - the hightlight at the Glade. New stuff sounds fantastic and they threw some classics in there as well. 2 laptop crashes i believe...the usual plaid set then :)
Anyone catch System 7 @ Avalon. They were fantastic!
cant remember much else :)

I caught Nightmares on Wax over at the Lost Stage on Friday night. That was pretty good Really mellow. That's got to be the best venue at Glastonbury is you want my opinion. The Glade is far too small -- nice being among the trees n'all that, but because it's used a thoroughfare aswell it gets a little too crammed. The Lost Stage is the perfect little amphitheatre tucked out in the corner. I reckon the Warp artists and co should lobby the organisers to base themselves over there next year.
At one point, when I was particularly rotten, I thought BoC was playing a surprise set. I heard that track 3 from the Warp Anniversary gig being played, jumped to my feet to investigate but it was only the Warp DJ playing it. Boo!

Yeah, that lost stage looked really good. Went up there one afternoon! That whole field is great. We went in to this stoopid freak show thing, it was so unbelievably naff we were pissing ourselves laughing!
Also went back there at like 3am one nigh, thats a fucked up place when your brain is a little bit sensitive. It seemed to be where all the weirdos at glasto went!
Wish i was still at glasto now, it sucks being back at work :(

Peloton - yeah i caught a bit of NOW as well. The Lost stage is really good - saw The Egg there and that was cool (prob not the kind of thing people would be into on this board though :) ).
As for the Glade. I thought they fucked up the setup this year, as in the actual stage. Last year was a simple stage with plenty of room to dance and plenty of room to chill. Loads of trees to give it that kind of special setup.
This year - less trees! Chopped some down and made them into ideal sitting areas! or meeting places (as we used them!). The stage was a dome that became a pain if you was about 5-10 feet away (loads of timber in your head/blocking your view/obstructing ya feet etc). The stage was also at the other side of the tree area.
It was way too packed as well - not just because of the Glade stage but because of the new cafe area. Good idea but it was too close to the Glade stage itself. There was no place to sit down and chill. Well...there was! but you risked losing your ankles as people passing through tried to find room to walk.
Slightly pissed off about The Glade setup - it was my highlight last year but the Lost Stage was better for me.
