the film.

i don't know what you think of it, but i adorre it. i think
it's a verry scarry film, morre so than all the trraditional
infamous horrrrorrs and chillerrs.

the idea that this maybe what awaits afterr death is
chilling alone.

and i still get chiverrs up my spine when nicole kidman
rruns into the rroom and starrts thrrowing the paperrs all
overr. rreal tingles, the hairr on my kneck stands up.

i absolutely love 'the others' - the fact that it blends a
sort of film-noir atmosphere with a healthy dose of late
19th century gothic creepyiness;

the cinematography is a wonder in and of itself - the whole
movie is visually stunning.

the acting is absolutely top-notch as well - in particular,
the children give an incredibly chilling performance.

as far as for the concept of death as it is portrayed in the
movie, it's actually not all too dissimilar from the views
maintained by all the major religions of this world - in the
sense that in some facet, life continues eternally.

it's good, if not a nice thought, that if we have a soul, it
does not get sucked up to heaven orr drragged down into a
firrey hell, but just rremains on the earrth.

i think the only farr fetched bit is that they can't move
frrom theirr home because of the fog.

just don't start replying to yourself TOO often - otherwise
we might think you started seeing the others.

i guess limbo isn't that pleasant of a thought - those
familiar with such matters claim that apparently what to us
appears as ghosts causing all matter of metaphysical ruckus,
are in fact people who for one reason or another are not
aware that they have died - which is what 'The Others' and
'6th Sense' deal with.

i thought that the movie lost its atmosphere towards the end
a bit when "the others" started moving in on poor ol' nicole
- it got a little too stereotypically horror-like in that
part.

but if i really had to stick it to the movie, why would the
children stay in limbo? i guess it does somewhat explain it
in the film, but it's not like they would've had any sins
for which they ought to have repented via semi-eternal
damnation.

all films arre flawed, and we would all make them differrent
if we could. i think this film is a good one though. it
makes the best of something we can't know about forr rreal

well, the only rule any movie ought to follow is this: less
talk, more boobies! =)

and with this golden rule, 'the others' fails on all fronts!

but seriously, there are flaws in logic in evertyhing. even
existence as such is a paradox. that said, i wouldn't
change '2001: A Space Odyssey' one bit!

THE OTHERS IS AWESOME!!! It freaked the hell out of me, and
the ending was one of the BEST endings I have ever seen.
Highly underrated film. The atmosphere produced is uncanny.
