I definately see differences between those 2 albums. Someone
here said that MHTRTC is like a good dream and Geogaddi is
like a nightmare. I find Geogaddi darker and more sinister
than MHTRTC.

I prefer MHTRTC

I dislike BOC for some reason.

It seems seperated from the rest of the impressive
electronic artists. I just don't like them. Dunno, maybe
I'll give them another go, someday.

Geogaddi, less repetetive, more lovely intervals, Satanic
undertones, more 'fuller' songs, Dawn Chorus.

Toejam: You're on the right track, stay focused.

MHTRTC is a ray of light, as opposed to the dark and
solitaire Geogaddi. Although I cannot straighten out which
one I like best, because it all depends on the mood I'm in.

I read somewhere that Geogaddi evokes childhood, and in many
ways I'll have to agree with that, not sure why.. Maybe I'm
easily influenced by other peoples opinions..

Conclusion: it all depends on the mood I'm in - But I tend
to be more in the "MHTRTC-ray-of-light-kinda-mood" rather
than the "dark-solitaire-Geogaddi-mood".

Ah hell, I like'em both.

thats a fucking lot.

mhtrtc is my choice

Geogaddi because its full of beautifully created tracks with
dark textures and tone. They feel a lot fuller in contrast
with the empty cold tracks of MHTRTC.

Geogaddi has tracks which stay etched in your mind whereas
MHTRTC tracks are failed to remember.

IMHO

MHTRTC has potential tracks with ideas but BoC didn't seem
to complete these ideas....I see MHTRTC as a plan/rough
sketch and Geogaddi as the complete works.

Yes I'm not saying its a terrible album infact its quite the
opposite (and it does have its warm moments),but stand
MHTRTC next to GeoGaddi and theres no competition.

they both seem pretty much the same to me - the only thing
why i prefer mhtrtc is because there are some more good
tracks on this one...but their sound didnt change since
their first release imo

they're both totally different pieces of ART.

comparing such things is ridiculous.

well, it's completely natural, and healty to try and compare
two different pieces from the same artist. innit?

I don't compare art.. I mean, the artist intended it to be
what it is and that's what it is.
I mean, I'd hate someone to look at my painting and be like
"oh the other one was better"... I mean.. they're two
totally different things and shouldn't be compared to one
another.

indeed they are two different pieces, but they do also
originate from the same source, and therefore it's natural
to try and compare the pieces against each other. For what
reason, I do not know.

You need to measure the new peace up against an older piece
to find some sort of symbiosis between the two, maybe.

I find that MHTRTC sparse and repetitive in contrast to
Geogaddi. Doesn't mean that MHRTC is of lesser quality
though. Less can be more.

Thats what we should do,not compare but thats how it
works.People are biased to their opinions and compare
previous works.
As an artist (of any sort) you've got to "out do yourself"
from your last work, its always got to be better.

I slightly prefer geogaddi... but must agree both albums are
similar in many ways.

The mood on geogaddi is darker though, and i think they just
got better at what they do. The melodies are richer, and the
songs deeper and more detailed on geogaddi.

mhtrtc will always have a special place in my heart though
:-)

you have to compare an artists work to their previous
efforts. by doing this you become more aware of the artists
pro/regression and the contrast offers an insight into the
artist behind the art. compare the intricate, acoustic
prepared piano pieces of afx's work to his work as caustic
window.. or his more basic earlier work... comparison also
enables one to trace the similarities in their creative
cache. if there is a certain thread throughout their entire
career, like for example a similarity in the construction of
melody, etc etc you're able to see that which defines and
separates the particular artist from others .. and if that
consistency doesnt show up in certain works, you can chalk
that up to a miscalculation, pandering etc. blah blah blah..
it's rediculous for a fan to not analyze the development (or
the stagnation, which may or may not lose many fans) of the
artists they admire

Yes! I completely agree. I wouldn't go as far as to say you
have to compare an artists work, but i definitly
think it makes you enjoy their work more.

i think there was a reason geogaddi and mhtrtc were seperate
albums.....so trying to find the superior and finding faults
in the inferior makes listening to music unenjoyable, it's a
constant judgement exposed on the music, when you shouldn't
judge it, you should just accept it for what it is.

the fact that mhtrtc comes across as the lighter album, and
geogaddi as the darker is good, since each album has a
relative effect on the other and how people perceive it.

i see mhtrtc as colder, geogaddi doesnt send me that image
at all, seems happier(1969 in the sunshine). mhhtrtc is a
winter-esque album while geogaddi is something completely
different. i understand the comparisons most of you are
making, the tracks are made in very similar style but the
textures\sounds on both the albums give a different
feeling...at least to me.

i would go for geogaddi...like the more darker feel to
it...mhtrtc has its darkness, but doesnt have the richness
and lushness that geogaddi has.,..still both are amazing
albums

For me, part of the problem with Geogaddi is it's too
polished. They had more money or better equipment or
something, and it doesn't sound like they're locked in
mortal combat with their source material (samples and
textures and shit).

Does that make any sense? Somehow mhtrtc and earlier work is
more 'authentic" because it's more primitive and somehow
closer to the kinds of feelings and impressions I associate
with BoC - tape decay, faded memories, fleeting images.

mhtrtc has is way more summery than geogaddi, the melodies
on tracks like roygbiv are way lighter and aquarius is just
so a summer tune!

I find geogaddi really dark, heavy and claustrophobic, music
is math has a really frosty melodys.

i cant compare them, MHTRTC is very special because it was
the first record that i heard from Boc and the style "in
that time" was so unique/new/warm.

if geogaddi was released first, i guess that geogaddi gave
me the same feeling, what MHTRTC does now :$

you know

whereas Geogaddi is AN album.
