Cool totally black CD (even the silver side is black, where
the data is encoded)

But yes..rather pretentious shite. :(

it seems pretty clear to me that rdj like listening to
hardcore, jungle and noise, all he's done is released some
tracks of music that HE likes

yeh. after the last MEN release he did drukqs. i think
smojphace was just to throw people off a bit, to make them
think he had lost it and stuff. lets just see what he does
next

i downloaded the remix track, it wasnt what i expected, i
didnt really like it because of the vocals but its a pretty
insane track and i liked the noise at the end, i didnt want
to download the noise tracks because i might want to buy
this.

drukqs was great it's his best release ever..

2 remixes was another great release.

and smojophace... well... the remix is quite good.. .and the
ktpa tracks are interesting in my opinion... more so than
other "noise" "artists" like merzbow... i think the ktpa
tracks are light years ahead of merzbow

yeah i agree, i think people are making too much of this
Smojphace thing, i like the noise tracks, much more than the
remix.

I wish he'd release an album soon though,

if you will be disapointed anyway...someone here suggested
it is really good while stoned
well, that is working really fine for me :)

the noise tracks probably took all of 20 seconds to create.
fucking garbage music.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-06-28 17:22 [#00761294]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

20 seconds and such brilliance...well it was said that the
man is a genius

offline REFLEX from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 2003-06-28 17:24 [#00761296]
Points: 8864 Status: Regular

hes not a genius, all he does is make music... well say hes
a musical prodigy... of sorts.. but this makes me really
think otherwise.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-06-28 17:25 [#00761297]

i like the sound of musical prodigy a lot more actually :)

offline REFLEX from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 2003-06-28 17:33 [#00761304]

yeah its better, cause a genius is someone who... well isnt
RDJ. But uh, yeah..... RDJs older shit is far better, far
far far far far far far far better.

offline ecnadniarb on 2003-06-28 17:44 [#00761328]

The remix of the big track was Ok the first noise track has
its charms the second one aint so good. But just because
YOU don't like it doesn't make it shit.

It is also kinda sad the way people think this is a
diversion before the next album. Every dog has its day, and
maybe Richard has had his.

The way I see it, Richard did stuff with electronic sounds
that no body else had done, he altered the sounds through
whatever means to make his tracks sound different and
unique. Now we live in a time where anyone with a computer
can produce any sort of sound...I think that was the point
of the piano peices on drukqs, he was attempting to
diversify...but at the end of the day maybe technology has
overtaken him and he cannot find any way to sound relatively
unique anymore. That, for me, will never detract from what
he managed to acheive in the past. But maybe peopl just
have to wake up and accept that there will never be a
groundbreaking RDJ album.

Another groundbreaking album that was meant to be...and it
was the bug remix...and hell I made so many typos I can't be
bothered fixing them all, I have had too much to drink :D

But what was you first real RDJ experience...from what I
have read in various places, and people I have spoken to,
those who listned to Aphex before Come To Daddy were
disappointed with drukqs...those who followed from Come To
Daddy onwards liked it.

I am not knocking it...I have been disappointed to some
degree with every release after Windowlicker...I love
Windowlicker though.

Drukqs had it moments...a few really good tracks, but most
of it, for me, was just filler.

i knew about him since i've heard ventolin, but i got in his
music later on...i had hard time with liking drukqs for a
long time, it is now my favourite album (together with
bilious paths and go plastic)

I like bilious paths but I thought Go Plastic is
Squarepushers weakest ever effort after Do You Know
Squarepusher.

ecnadniarb: yeah thats a very smart comment, because its
mostly true, more old skool RDJ fans are not fans of his new
stuff, while newer RDJ Fans are..... its common, the people
I know in this city who have been into AFX for a long damn
time, including myself and many here are not into his new
shit at all.

I love the old stuff a lot (classics, caustic window comp,
quoth, abb3..., ventolin remixes, on....)

and I also love the new stuff (except smojphace that I still
didnt hear)

so thats not for everybody

It's not a question about whether you like his old stuff
nacho, it is about when you started listening to him.
