Wild marijuana?

OK, I hope no-one minds me starting a topic on drugs.
Moderators, please close the topic if this is against the
rules......

I'm no pothead. I sometimes dabble, but only occasionally
and usually I don't even enjoy it that much. But I'm quite
sure I can recognise a cannabis plant. I've seen a few in
my time.

As I have mentioned a lot in recent posts, I am currently
living in Lithuania. Recently when I have been walking
through the city in which I live (Vilnius) or cycling in the
surrounding countryside I have seen what I am quite sure are
cannabis (marijuana) plants, growing wild.

I've seen quite a few small ones growing alone at the sides
of roads. I've also seen someone's back garden which had
quite a lot growing in it. And today I saw a load of them
by a farmer's house.

My questions are:

- Am I just foolishly mistaken? Would cannabis grow
outdoors in a Northern European climate (Lithuania has very
cold winters, but quite hot sunny summers)

- Could it be that they are hemp plants? And if this is the
case, do hemp plants produce the drug that gets you high in
marijuana?

- If I was to pick any of these plants, what would I need to
do to get high? Is it true that only the female plant
produces the drug? How do you recognise male from female?
Will just smoking the dried leaves get me high?

- Most of these plants are growing next to roads or in
gardens near to roads. There are a LOT of cars in the city,
and I think a lot of them run on leaded petrol. If I was to
smoke weed from these plants, would it be full of dangerous
pollutants that the plants have absorbed from the local
atmosphere?

Thanks in advance!

Isn't it THC that gets you high?

Hemp is usually made from the male pot plant. (correct me if
wrong). Female plants contain the THC you are looking for.
You can usually tell by the stems.

Pot thrives in 70-85 degree wheather. Temp usually effects
growth. Depending on the weather it will yeild bigger buds.

You would need the Bud parts to get high. it looks like a
fucking donkey dick at the top of the plant

I am proud to say I can answer all of your questions, and I
don't think you should be shy about starting drug topics,
I've seen many worse ones before.....but anyway,....

1) Yes, some marijuana plants (especially the rare genus
Ruderalis) have adapted quite well to colder climates and
shorter flowering seasons.

2) A marijuana plant and a hemp plant are the same thing in
itself. Normally, male plants are used for stalks, leaves,
etc. for "hemp". Female plants are used for flowers, buds,
resin, hash, etc....

3) A female plant will clearly show signs of budding, and
white frilly hairs called "trichromes". If these hairs
become amberish, reddish color, and the buds are somewhat
thick, then the plant is ready for harvest and can be
dried/smoked. A male plant will show signs of little
budding, wispy leaves and small "balls" around the budding
nodes. the male plants do not have capability of producing
high amounts of THC (the chemical to get high), but they do
produce some, varying on the type of plant/species/growing.
Smoking dried leaves that have been crushed up finely,
especially from a female plant, can produce quite a
pleasant, uplifting high.

4) Most likely these plants will probably not absorb any bad
chemicals.....they mainly absorb everything they need from
the soil,....and they probably would have died or looked
unhealthy (did they?), if they DID absorb any
chemicals.....

:)

there is, on the other hand, a wild plant (i can't remember
the name), which grows wild in many places in Europe that
looks alot like marijuana.

growing under a black light doesn't work so good. i tried
it once in college, growing a few plants in a closet with
just a black light. they grew up real tall real fast but
could not support their own weight and bent over. we tried
bracing them with sticks but they eventually just died.

as for growing wild,
here in the greater seattle area, pot will grow outside with
very little help. the weather is rainy and moderate temp.
it literally is a weed which means it will grow with almost
no encouragement.

marijuana plants need red and blue areas of the spectrum.

It's hemp (same as marijuana but with lesser psychedelic
effects). We have tonnes of it growing in Canada too.
Hell, we even had some in the back fields of my high school.

You could try smoking it - there is THC in hemp, but you'd
probably have to smoke a shit-load. (quantitity of THC
varies from species and "strain").

the strongest hit would probably be smoked through a
bong...joints don't hit u as hard from the moment u inhale,
but do the job.
if u were to pick some buds/leaves, get around 5gm and stick
it in the microwave for a couple of seconds to dry
em.....then smoke and see what happens : )

use the oven...microwaves can cause genetic mutation - and
you don't want to be altering the precious THC in your
grass. Throw the oven on low, and put some on a sheet of
tin foil for a couple of minutes.

just dont cut any of them plants down yet, they'll be ready
around august.

but you should be able to tell their sex now.
simple rule, males have balls, lots of them, females have
white hair like tendrils.

chances are if they are wild there might be male and female
in the area, in which case you'll end up with pollinated
females anyway.

so, just sit and wait and see if mother nature gives you a
little freebie

around here and used to try to smoke it when I was young and
foolish, but it's usually not even worth the trouble for
such shitty ditch weed.

if the female is pollinated it creates a hemaphrodite type
plant, half male half female, alot less stronger, smokeable
but not very strong at all

It depends if you make a habit of it. If you just try it
once or twice, I think you could describe yourself as "just
curious".

Update: I tried smoking the leaves from one of these plants
the other night. Dried them out in the oven first. No
noticeable effect whatsoever. Anyway, who cares. I wish I
hadn't started this thread now because I regard
marijuana/drugs as one of the most boring topics of
conversation in existence.

"if the female is pollinated it creates a hemaphrodite type

plant, half male half female, alot less stronger, smokeable

but not very strong at all"

this is incorrect, a pollinated female plant will devote its
energy to producing seeds instead of generating more flowers
(clusters of which are known as buds, groups of buds are
known as colas), but will still have significant potency.
the seeds, of course, should not be smoked.

hermaphroditism is common, and is a consequence of a plant's
genetics and can be triggered by stress.

if you do try to grow cannabis for smoking, you will of
course conduct the appropriate research first to increase
the likelihood of success.

wild cannabis is likely to be genetically related to strains
that have been bred for use in fabric, rope, etc. these
strains are very low in psychoactive agents.

most importantly, in general you should consider the
information about cannabis on music messageboards
unreliable.
