Now let's talk IAD (Internet Addiction Disorder). I belive i have a compulsive need to check for messages every 10 minutes. What netaddictions do you have?
My poll says that a lot of people probly are using 12+ hours on the net a day.

I love the way using the net is seen as "antisocial", but going out, getting pissed and fighting, being sick in the street and throwing kebabs everywhere at the weekends is deemed acceptable behaviour by many people.
I've not had home internet for 2 days and I've not really missed it. I've spent more time making music, but that's about it.

It's more productive than watching the TV for 4 hours a night like most of the populance :)
Like many things seen as "addictions", playing video games, even making music to an extent, if it has no real harmful effects on your health etc. and is an enjoyable way to pass the time, it can't be that bad.
AA members would say I'm in "denial" ;)

Good point- it's also seen as a bit "cooler" than using the net for hours so people are more tolerant of it :)

i absolutely agree!!! using the internet actually requires a great deal more skill and intellectual involvement than laying on the couch all pissed up and slobbering, watching the soaps or whathaveyou. in surfing the net, you must locate information on your own accord, rather than it being spoonfed to you, and first and foremost, your reading and writing skills get exercised a great deal more - it's quite a constructive activity, really, when you come to think of it - it encourages individuality, freedom of thought, creativity, etc. - all the sorts of traits governments and other powers that be rather you be without.

the internet does, however, discourage the use of proper grammar and spelling, as in most instances, one must type "on the fly", so to write, thus resulting in all manner of abbreviations, and general errors of language which may eventually form into a lifelong habit of improper usage of linguistic rules.
