"editor" for my music technique

I've found a music making "technique" that I, at least,
think has interesting results and use it on most of my new
tracks. I like it because the results have really complex
"fractal" percussion, but there's not that much effort to
make it. Examples are at
http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/wmw/ (the tracks "my
bloody vacuum cleaner 2" and "4 rooms 4 walls" for example)
The technique is easy enough and I want to share it in easy
to follow steps in case anyone else wants to edit or play
with the simple idea etc.
If anyone's interested, I will make a very easy to follow
"tutorial" text, and give you modplug tracker (the software
I use to do it) as well as the data and wav files that I
used.

well you are really offering something here... I listened to
"My bloody vacuum cleaner 2" which sounded interesting...
so what is this teqnique?
If you don't mind, send the tutorial (only, don't include
any other files, thanks) to key_secret@hotmail.com

I'm going to bed now, but I will be checking the mail
tomorrow + responding if you've sent any :)

I dunno...both sounded pretty similar and it is something
that would be quite easy to acheive in other packages.
Thanks for the offer though :P

If I make a "tutorial" it will be pretty necessary that the
reader has a copy of modplug tracker. It would just be
easier for me to be able to specifically say "do this or
that" and know exactly what I'm talking about since the
reader would have the same exact program. Plus it might be
interesting to be able to swap files of data or whatever
since the files would be guaranteed to work on any one's
copy of modplug tracker. If you don't know your way around
that program (it's simple anyway) it won't matter, because
I'll describe the basics as simply as possible as I go. I
might just provide a link where modplug tracker can be
downloaded (but it's easy to find on the internet anyway
probably).
I would be interested in hearing something you come up with
in a similar construction, ecnadniarb. If you've made
something "fractal-percussiony" like this I'd like to hear
it. Some people seem to like the results and some aren't as
interested. Well, put simply, (and it might be obvious) the
"technique" is to basically make 64, 128, 256, 512 etc rows
of randomish sounds, then play three simultaneous octaves of
the resulting wav file. This is what I do usually. You can
use many programs to do it, but I'll be able to
explain/suggest more specific stuff in modplug tracker I
think.

thanks for the description...
First I didn't get it (I thought you recorded your entire
track [including e.g. drums]) but then I thought about it
and, a-ha.
well I guess it was obvious from start ;)
thanks anyway. might try it some time.
the reason I wasn't so interested in modplug is because I
already use another trackersoftware (sortof).
but thanks anyway!

modplug tracker is just a simple piece of software. It's
only about 1000 KB, which is only about the size of 1 minute
of an mp3.
However I'll need to send a ".it" file that has the data for
one of my tracks (I think I'll use my first telefon tel aviv
remix). These are usually small in size, but it will be
necessary for me to send a rather big file because INSIDE
the .it file will be 2 or so big wav files. So maybe about
17,000 kb. It's still not that big. Lots of files this size
easily fits on my computer. I don't know of any way to send
files this size other than soulseek, but I'm sure ways exist
(hotmail has a 1000 kb limit). I still havn't even started
making the "tutorial", but it shouldn't be too hard.

You can mail it to me if you want it should be ok. I've got
everything running outlook express, the size shouldn't be an
issue.

Swell. I will reply here in a few days or so when I'm done
creating my pointless "tutorial".
