pomme is my only friend that likes electronic music. i have
several albums and would consider myself a fan, but not an
enthusiast by any means. so, yeah, most of the time i'm
listening to any electronic music i am by myself.

boc is in my car stereo right now.

it's wierd how you notice things when someone else points
them out.

i realized just now that it WAS a little wierd listening to
boc w/ my brother in the car a few days ago.

epohs - i love this style of music, as i've only been into
it for the past 3 years...but i too mostly listen to it when
i'm alone.

I don't know... my friends don't seem to like my music, so I
just play the radio, or some more "friendly" music when
they're around...

I'm usually disappointed by people's reactions to music I
like so I generally keep it to myself. I can see how BoC
would be an especially solitary pleasure. Makes you pensive
like.

yeah... some people might say you should play what you like,
but I'd rather play something everyone will like and then
it'll be more enjoyable... so I know a lot of my music ain't
going to go over too well with them, so I just play
something else...

If I put music on with the intention of listening to it, it
is always alone, no matter what style. If it is just
background music then I can stick anything on. :D

When we have the normals over - family and stuff - I put on
old fashioned jazz like Django Reinhardt. That's almost too
weird for them, but they've heard it in TV commercials so it
must be okay. :-) The Amelie soundtrack is also good for
this, and Tommy Guerrero's first album.

One time I made the mistake of playing Amon Tobin for my
brother in law and his girlfriend - they said it sounded
like monkeys. Oh cay.

I sent a Steve Reich track to a friend of mine today, and
she said it made her want to gouge her eyeballs out...
heh... but she seems to enjoy SAWII... or the two tracks of
it I sent her, Stone in Focus, and Lichen...

a huge amount of my music i play it when i am alone
if i am in the car with other people it has to be the radio
as bad as it might seem but 89x is very friendly in the car
when you have people with you
or WDET at night when they play electronic music

M'eh

Believe it or not my mum <3s BoC and Amon Tobin, also found
Squarepusher in her car the other day... damn.

She's also a fan of gybe and mogwai so we listen to all of
the above quite a bit when we're driving around.

you have to be with the right human to enjoy boc with
company
I think it's the right music when you're driving with your
squeeze, assuming they are suitably attuned
or with just someone you love

when my friends hear the term idm, they don't know what the
fuck it is and when they hear the word techno they think of
Scooter. That kinda tells you everything there is to tell.

i think it's because boc have so many profound messages and
they create meanings that are absolutely personal, so its
best for listening on your own, without the distraction of
anyone else

out of all the electronic music i listen to i'm really proud
of boc, as in i don't feel at all embarassed about it.

i've only ever had good reactions to boc too. several of my
friends have bought mhtrtc

Like personal thoughts and ideas i think that boc is great
for comtemplating stuff, cos it's deep, thoughtful and
subtle.

Does that answer your question?

i don't think the music itself is thoughtful, instead the
effect it has on you is what makes you thoughtful.....which
is a nice feeling, the sound seems to dig itself into your
mind deeper and deeper....without getting too repetitive.
the bonus of having all this conspiracy theory around boc's
motives and messages in their sound add that little
mysterious texture to it, which keeps their material more
interesting for a longer period, just like a mysterious girl
is harder to let go of, then one you know inside/out
