lately I've been amazed at the deluge of new threads
everyday, and the utter lack of replies in most of them.

I mean, 6 or 7, maybe 11 replies, and that's it, threads
down on the second page before you know it. The new ones
pile up so fast.

I'm not claiming a lack of content in new posts, but, well,
it just seems like everything is going @ 2x normal speed.
Threads appear and die faster than you can say rdj.

Anyone else notice this?

haha

I have mine set to 50, and I like it that way.

It just seems that posts are so very fleeting, and it's hard
to get a word in edgewise before they're gone and buried.

offline Spacecadet on 2003-06-25 15:16 [#00756879]

maybe it's because the topics are shit

so then maybe the negative points for new posts should be
installed?

i kinda like that idea.

I have researched this and found that Shit Topics/numourus
topics occur when SoulSeek is down, and Slsk has been down
lately.

Theory explained.

hum, interesting, Slsk is not down here, but haven't been on
much lately.

But you have noticed it at least no?

well shit, this is case in point, this thread is an hour old
or something, but it was already in the middle of the page.

Now, it's one thing if it's replies to other threads bumping
it down, but it really seems to be new topic after new topic
after new topic after new topic after new topic after new
topic after new topic

this would be, a person who starts a thread looses 5 points
or so.

Just an incentive the mods have kicked around, but never
implemented, to control the asstacular topics that come up
semi-regularly.

that could be it, but it's also summer, and people are
inside when they should be outside.

restless........lots of shit topics these days though,
whatever is causing it.

Losing points for making threads would lead to threads
constantly going off topic or being hijacked.

If i where Phobia i would pin the 100 suckiest topics for a
week just to see the reactions. That would be funny.
He could have theme weeks like "My new avatar" week or
"Soulseek is down" week.

I am guessing there have been a lot of newbies recently. Not
exactly everyone rushes to see what a damn n00b wants to
say. Most of the old-timer's thread still get more than
30-50 posts on an average.

back when I joined there seemed to be quite a bit of flaming
going on, therefore I was really conscious of any new topic
I created. Maybe all the talk about "not flaming" has
loosened things up a little?

its like 17 degrees celsius un germany right now and we have
mid-summer!!

so cmon dont tell us your freezing...

topic: i havent been here for more than a year, but i see a
lot of shitty topics aswell.
many short topics are also just short questions, which are
answered quite well and that is a good thing.

half of these 'new' topics seem to be old ones someone's
found and brought back from the dead..
i'll read the initial question and think of how i'd respond
as i scroll down through everyone elses and find a post from
me responding to the question a year ago.
