what is a good piece of software that is like jeskola buzz,
but is more advanced? i have no money, so it should
probably be available on soulseek and be fairly small in
size (i'm on 56k). thanks

nobody ever knows what i am talking about... :.(

its a music creation software which is basically a little
virtual studio where you drag around virtual synths and
effects and shit visually. sorry, that didn't make sense
either. im going to sleep now. maybe in the morning
someone will know what i am talking about.

I really don't know anything more advanced that is similar
to Buzz, free or not. (there's Psycle, but that's at most on
the same level, and I like the interface a good deal less)
An ex-coder of Buzz machines is working on a new thing
called Aero that looks like it's going to be quite nice, but
all we've seen so far is screenshots, so there's really no
way to judge what it's going to be like yet.

buzz is best for users like us.
+ there are a whole lot of new machines all the time for
free.

audiomulch is cute... but I've even made some of my own
machines in buzz.. if it just wasn't a little buggy
sometimes... I think the greatest challenge is exploring
everything available for it...

fuck Fruitloops tho, unless yer just making loops

my main problem with buzz is where you can put events.
unless you set the bpm or tpb very high you can only put on
1/8 or 1/4 beat (depending on the tpb setting) and you can't
do triplets or anything like that. i used to use acid pro,
but i switched to buzz because loops based software is
pretty limited.

Depends on what generators you use, really. Before my own
tracker machine (which isn't out yet) came far enough that
the only things to be added are effect commands, I mostly
used the Matilde Tracker, which has a fairly nice retrigger
system. I agree that many synths don't do it as well, but
there's the PeerChord to get around that problem.

You use VC++. Using other compilers is tricky because the
libs you need are made with that (blah blah blah vtable
layouts blah).
