I recently sold my controller k/b & am now looking to buy a
compact synth to take it's place infront of my PC so I can
program sounds without straining my eye's infront of the
monitor all the time & jam with a friend etc..........I am
looking at either an MS2000, Prophecy, K-Station or similer
& wondered if anyone who has owned one or more of these
could comment on how well they would handle the job of
controller k/b & what type of sounds could I expect at best
from these......I make Drill'n'Bass, Techno, Ambient,
Atmospheres & other worldly sounds for picnics & snuff
movies.

I personally like the MS2000, because it has an analog
interface, and it has audio inputs to fuck up any sort of
sounds you like. Your best bet for a good controller would
just be the one with the most knobs and sliders, because
with MIDI you can asign those to any parameters on the
computer you want. The MS has either harsh basses and great
noises, or lush pads and stranges textures. Go with the
2000.

I hear what your saying but have you ever used a prophecy or
K-station?.....I have spent some time playing with the
MS2000 in the shop & managed to get some really nice sounds
from it & I am kinda swinging towards it at the moment but
I've also heard some great things about the other two &
since the prophecy isn't being manufactured anymore I was
hopeing someone could shed a little light.........

Yeah but if it's good enough for the prodigy then it's good
enough for me.......I heard it was PHat & it's a neat little
keyboard, quite a bit smaller than the MS2000 which makes it
more practical for me but I would really like to know about
it's sound capabilities & user friendliness
etc................

Maybe I'll just fuck Korg & go for a Novation..............

The MS200 is ultra phat....some of the sounds on it are
phenominal and the amount of twiddly things and knobs on it
mean you can alter them all completely.
Plus, if you like the k-station, then i suggest you just
download the software version as it's just as good. It's
called the V-station and Marlowe was sharing it on soulseek.

My connection is 56k so it would probably take all week to
d/l, I have heard of the V-station but as I said I'm after a
hardware synth/controller as I'm trying to get away from the
computer cos it's such a sterile way of working & it's
fucking my eye's up!

.....Oh, & hardware is soooo desirable =b

I cant help myself..........for an extra £100 more than the
price of a midi controller k/b I can have a gorgeous little
synth......Hell yeah.........My first hardware synth, it
will be a love story for shure, I may even be tempted into
hardware for all occasions d=()z<
