"Dear Richie, how are you? Are Lorna and Derek fine? I hope
so. Well, I'm writing to you for say what I think about your
last ep under alias Smojphace. I was so excited when I knew
about this new release with totally new tracks. I
remember... the postman gave me the pack, i opened it, i put
cd in my stereo... play and go. What I think of it? Well
apart track1 this ep is totally a fucking boring noise shit.
I laughed. No offense, I'm a simple faithful fan, you're the
genius and you like to joke with people, but Richard D.
James is much better than Dj Smojphace. Change alias and
back to the glorious Polygon or Caustic Window, maybe GAK or
Bradley Strider... but please delete DJ SMOJPHACE and give
us the best electronic music who all fans are waiting for."

A your humble fan.

smojphace is just the title of the record. AFX is the artist
name he uses for it. DJ Smojphace is just for live things

art is such that it doesn't really matter what RDJ's
intentions were with this EP, it is its own entity known,
and can be placed anywhere the listener chooses to place
it...

i`m really pissed with his both last releases. i mean it`s
so clear that he`s ripping us off ... "mixes for cash" it`s
even in the title .. i got about 25 afx cd`s and never
thought a single second of not buying an album. i bought the
mixes for the collection and thought i`ll do that with the
new ep ... well

i won`t

sorry for bitching around here but i`m really angry; for
god`s sake i found the snares man - at least 3 albums a year
everyone different and everyone DOPE.

no "i`m the best lala, you are a fan ? fuck off" music

the whole "mixes for cash" complaint is silly... every album
pressed by any artist, is on some level for cash... it's a
cynical fact that Afx points out... is it ironic? yes... do
i think he's some heartless money-grubbing asshole anymore
than any other artist who doesn't point that out? no

26mixes is ace imo. If you don't like it then why did you
buy it? you gave your money to this "heartless

you like next time

Dear Richie, how are you? Well, I'm writing to you for say
what I think about your last ep under alias Smojphace is
wicked. Its a very nice A side indeed and its just perfect
for a DJ set, im gonna throw it in my next set this weekend
after Dance like you selling snails (the crowd will go hyper
for sure, thanx Richard)

I was so excited when I knew
about this new release with totally new tracks and im
satisifed, I will mix the noise with The Cures - Halo song
its will sound fucking sweet.

I remember... the postman gave me the pack, i opened it, i
put
cd in my stereo....What I think of it? Well
apart track1 this ep is totally a fucking boring noise shit
but still worth it because I can use that noise to so much
fun like killing my neighbours cat, using it in DJ sets
calling up random people playing the noise etc etc etc.
And yes I laughed. No offense, I'm a simple faithful fan,
you're the
genius and you like to joke with people but please Richie do
NEVER change alias back to that BORING UTTERLY CRAP
Polygon, Caustic Window (wich sounds so dated and boring)
and the cheesy shit GAK or
Bradley Strider. Please keep on giving us innovative new
improved highly detailed fantastic hyper mental stuff like
Drukqs, Run The place remix and AFX 2 mixes, I wouldnt mind
some nice ambient tho ;). Keep give
us the best electronic music we all fans needs like u always
do.

Archrival your humble fan.

Aphex can do what he wants for cash...don't give a damn. As
long as his music is good, I will still wan to listen to
him. In this case (Smojphace) though...the music just plain
sucks.

I hate people that just say sucks, without substantiating.

Sucks = lack of dynamics + no song structure + desultory
music + a seeming desire to slack off and make money while
he sits in a bank and buys fuel for his tank.

the fact that you all hate it makes me want it even
more.....

he took crappy styles of music like drillnbass and piano
solos that in my opinion have only been done badly by
everyone else, and he made them great....i cant wait to hear
what he did with noise....

when he played noise at sonar people didnt really appreciate
it, not that he gave a fuck - but there were also people
that enjoyed that quite a lot (me including)

do you know why richard is so popular?

1st: 'cos he's an incredible great electronic musician,
probably the best

2nd: 'cos he's really able to create controversials and
divergences of opinions with music always different and
particular.

after last "normal" release as windowlicker ep, 2 remix by
afx, drukqs and 26 mixes for cash... what better of an ep of
noise music for confuse all fans and magazines? it's all
fuel for his fire...

coz every release is different....with almost every artist
ive heard, you buy any 2 of their releases and you can tell
instantly they are from the same person, but not with
rich.....i doubt he will make a noise album, or even do
noise ever again, hes always changing....

"Dearest cousin smojphace,
how we toil in this bleak Russian winter, like an orphaned
child, left wanting the sustainace of a mothers love. I fear
the tszar and tszarina have forgotten our plight here in
siberia, the place if ice and wind. I fear for Natasha: for
her consumption grows stronger just as my heart grows
weaker.

My only comfort is to hear that your coachman are
dispatching you to see us at once: we can drink vodka and
eat beluga, remembering better times of afar. I look forward
to your writings, but more so your attendance cousin
smojphace. fair thee well,

jingelenski

oops, wrong style of letter: lets put it this way, he
probably doesn't really care what we think in a letter he
will almost certainly never see: he is making and releasing
the music he wants, so your opinions aren't realistically
gonna change his thought processes.

b.t.w. if he was a pure money grabber why would he play the
"warp 10" concerts for charity or turn down the vast amounts
of money madonna was offering him to produce her?

im pretty sure, with his musical skills, he could make loads
of money - but he's apperantly not doing it...so i really
dont see him as a money grabber

yeah he gave us what we wanted.

in fact id say that this is the first release that lacks in
some way.

some thnigs about the remix are just great i must say
though:
the voice-tweaked bassline and the other voice mash ups.

i want to have this e.p. but im gonna see what the price
says...

in london you could probably get this one cheap pretty
soon.
does anyone know how many copies there are?

there is only 1 copy, but it is capable of meiosis, so if
left at 27C with a suitable algenate nutrient supplement it
will multiply by a factor of 2 every 20 minutes.

all of u that say u hate it, get over it!

its a great few tracks, why do u have to expect a new aphex
release to change ur life?! it was only supposed to be a
quick release i reckon, hence the april 21st date, not like
a major new thing u lot have made it out to be!

and the DJ Smojphace@rephresh blew my fucking mind, better
than his set at ATP for sure
