Jesus, i went to see an Anticon showcase last night in
Glasgow.
It was like some twisted hip-hop pantomime rather than a
show.
First off was Doseone's band thing called "Themselves" who
were quite shit to be honest...but the sound in the venue
cut out halfway through their set.
Unfazed by this, Doseone began just talking over the crowd
without a mic, doing hilarious freestyles and a comedy
routine!!! It was crazy!!
Then a guy called Sole came on once they had (kind of)
sorted out the sound.
He had to rap to instrumentals of a cd player..
He totally rocked the house big time!! Very thought
provoking rapper.
And then........................the climax of the evening
came with Sage Francis.
This guy totally rocked shit unbelievably. Never have i seen
a rapper play a show like this....he was using loads of
samples and instrumentals from famous cock rock and hip hop
tunes and turning them into his own twisted
versions.....this boy has talent and i suggest you look out
for it...
anyways, sorry bout the long winded report, but last night
changed my life forever...

one more thing, if you live in Germany or Holland....they're
touring there the next few days....PLEASE. I BEG YOU TO
CHECK THIS OUT!!! IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!!

clouddead live than all three of those but thats just me.
im not a huge fan of anticon but there is some great stuff
on it.

I don't think much of Anticon, they seem to be nerd rappers
mostly, trying too hard.

Trying to hard to be clever intelligent rappers, trying to
be inventive when it seems a little forced usually. I'm not
an expert but thats what it seemed like to me. No need for
the double question mark to be honest I find that offensive.

it probably seems a little forced in that ine has to think
about what they are saying for a long time before they can
come up with an inkling as to what they mean... but to my
knowledge most can just improvise and just drop it all right
there... and it's hard to be forceful when it's all floating
out of you really... people should just regard it as
post-modern poetry and not worry so much about trying to
place the square-peg in the the round rap paradigm... i am a
huge fan of quite a bit of anticon myself... Sole, Doseone,
Sage Francis... you can't go wrong with any of those guys...
i'm not such a huge fan of alias... or eyedea... but there
is a lot of talent in that stable...
