What is this?!? A brand new Rephlex-artist? What is it
like?

I was a bit confused cosz I've seen the The Bug-cover in a
thread about the cover of Smoojphase - the new afx single...

The album is very good. I have had it a while now and it is
definitely one of Rephlex's better releases. Sounds similar
to the AFX remix just without the breakbeats. Very techno
orientated.

The Bug is Kevin Martin. He's been around for a while
releasing under the names Techno Animal, God and Ice.

It's ragga techno, yardcore, bashment: In other words,
dancehall reggae with synths and 808 style rhythms. Pretty
fucking ace in my opinion.

Toastie Taylor and The Rootsman are lyrical geniuses who
appear on Pressure (the yellow CD). The red CD (not out yet)
will feature Cutty Ranks, a god in the world of dancehall
reggae.

Hope this helps.

Thank you all! I have to hear this one before buying it coz
I absolutely despice all vocal dancehall reggae I've heard
so far, but I trust you having decent taste in music so I'll
give it a try!

I saw the live set recently and it was really good, heavy
and dark. Kicked my arse, and the rest of the nerds watching
/ "dancing"!

there are soundfiles on the rephlex site as well as correct
info -
the term "ranks" is a nickname - they're not related - it's
like admiral bailey or whatever - just cites that they are
high rankin or good

All the dancehall-ragga music I've heard have vocals
sounding like someone shitting their pants - or someone
trying to shit their pants but not quite making it...

Clearly you need to listen to more dancehall mate.

I'm not a big fan, but when it's put to heavy beats and
tense-as-you-like synths... well, the faeces really does
collide with the fast, rotating, cooling mechanism.
