I think the only Autechre CD that has anything resembling
something to read is the Anti EP on the sticker that seals
it closed (when new). All the others have artwork in that
now-predictable abstract/minimal/angular style.

Peel session 2 was at the store and i passed it 100 times
cause it was plain white and the writing was so small and
faint!

Mostly the artwork is quite abstract, and somewhere you can
read something like Booth/brown productions and the year and
that it ir released on Warp records. That's just about it.

There's a couple of lines here and there that are just about
readable, but to say they're interesting or informative
would be an overstatement. The most interesting thing
written on the Basscadet EP is the text in the run-out on
the 10"ers in the box.

www.skam.co.uk, which ofcourse is complete bullshit. :)

funny, cuz that's my #1 gripe about idm cds. how hard is it
to give a little info, or have some cool artwork.

I'm not asking for radiohead, but sometimes no material at
all takes the piss. Why don't I just d/l this shit?

.....well i buy AE CDs cause i dont trust the quality of the
downloaded material.
sometimes the songs are merged together
or like in draft, there is like 15 sec of silence in the
begining and ending of the CD
i like to respect the artist's presented work...and i am
taking about a few artists that i would buy:
radiohead
bjork
AE
some aphex twin

also, most of ae's stuff translates REALLY badly to mp3,
more so than other artists music.

MP3/AE works fine if you encode at a high enough level...

I've been using LAME --alt preset extreme to do 320kbs VBR
MP3s and even with A, they come out fine...

Wouldn't dream of doing em at anything less than 256
though.....A 128Kbs AE MP3 might as well be a remix..;)...

BTW...

I really love minimal design so AEs/TDR artwork is right up
my street...And their design has got better & better over
time, I think....

Agreed...

I think we'll see more of the same from AE on that front -
Alex Rutterfords design style is pretty refreshing after all
these years of TDR...

Much as I love TDR, probably to a unhealthy extent, they do
sometime moves into self-parody - Difficult not to, I guess,
when you look at their huge body of work over the last
decade or so...

(hehe...my other-half has got used to me pointing TDR or TDR
influenced design when we go out anywhere....)...

i am thinking about copying the art of draft's cover to my
huge wall
i might copy it and project it as big as my wall

..then trace it and paint it...
too long and complicated....4th of july event!

v. cool....you'll have to take a pic of that when it's
done....

I noticed the other day that CR are selling the Gantz
Graf/Alex Rutterford poster again....for a fiver I
think....I'll see if I can find out the full details & post
em here, as it's a sublime poster (a fully rendered still
from GG...)...

(*jand stares lovingly at his wall - Alex R &
PS3:PRAYSTATION.COM posters look so cool next to each
other..)..

jeez...Chaging Rooms has made it's way to the US...

I really must apologise for that...yet another cultural War
Crime by the UK...

:)...

(There a while frigging cable channel devoted to those
programs here ...makes me cringe everytime I skip past
it...)...
