Modus Operandi.

i love this album, don't you?

full of selenitic (lunar) beauty. perfect to listen at
night, with windows open, feeling wind through your room
(just like i'm doing)...

even Vi Scose Poise or Further by Autechre have difficulty
beating the mighty KJZ, or Aleph 1 with its fire and ice
puffs! : )

KJZ is so utterly, utterly fantastic.
Aleph 1 and 124 are two utterly fantastic dark tracks.
Genius album.

Form & Function is good too, but I find it a little
less...moody.
Solaris I really like, but almost everyone else hates it.
Apart from a couple of tracks, there's no d'n'b on there.

get Seven Samurai single...it's limited ( not to get now )
and vinyl is not to forgot - just Japanese ideogram's on
gray background....and that's all !!!!man if you havent
heard that one - you dont know the power of Rupert's
music...

Ni-Ten-Ichi-Ryu is quite good. I also really like Form &
Function...Modus Operandi is class and the Hidden Camera EP
is good. In fact almost everything he has done is
good (shudders and Solaris)

its very good
i prefer form and function though.

yeh, solaris was pretty wack. i am not a fan of house music
and this was not even good house music. those vocals are
wicked awful.

One of my all-time favorites. I personally think that MO is
a whole piece of perfection from beginning to the end – it
just flows, there is not a weak spot here… no doubt it’s
his best…
a very thoroughly crafted and EXTREMELY addictive (isn’t
it? :)

I love stuff on Modus Operandi. I still feel though that it
is the programming on Rings Of Saturn and Ni Ten Ichi Ryu
that really puts him RIGHT UP THERE.

I want to like this more than I do. And not because I want
to be down with what's deemed good.

I find his music to be too cerebal. Its a bit too cold and
mechanical. But I AM a pop fan after all.

have you seen clip of ni-ten-ichi-ryu ???
gof , it's great, those warriors . and that scene with
completation on rock and clicing two candles with voice in
background......
and did you know that ni-ten-ichi-ryu means "two swords
technique" as it is said it title ?....

Yeah, that video and track got me into him and set me on my
way into 'dance' music. I had that on tape and I'd love to
see it again. When I saw it I was like "WTF is THIS???". It
blew me away.

finest clips and events from all channels from TV , so it is
little history now - for example - first clips and
recordings of K7! studio....yeah , piece of history now ,
maybe i will give those tapes to my child with words like
"here you go , my son - hear and learn" .....

The thing I *really* like about Modus Operandi is the fact
that he's put tracks like 124 and Modus Operandi on there,
instead of having the whole album drum'n'bass. Utterly
brillian.
The thing I *really* don't like about Modus Operandi is The
Fifth Column.

long time no hear. what a great thing to play it after
months. and play it from 2 sources simultaneously so you can
beat-match at various combinations and go "wow" when it
works.

classic album

yeah. . rupert used to be a thing of great promise- I
honestly can't think of an album that was as shatteringly
disappointing to me as Solaris. . i remember being
completely buzzed about a new photek album and practically
running home to hear it. . . only to be confronted with some
absolutely arse house music. i don't know what he's done
recently, i never got over that moment=] perhaps it's not as
bad as i remember.

this was a probably my favourite photek release
thoughT Raenon on Op-Art, there was a lovely downtempo
mix of this on the flip too.

i recently approached Solaris after a very long time, and
the only tracks i saved to my ipod lately were terminus,
junk, glamourama, infinity and solaris. that's just 5/11
tracks of the album, which kind of shows an average Photek
listener's opinion on it: a very uneven, weird and kind
of....cluless release. i know MO2 was/is somewhat
impossible, but i was one of those who expected much much
more after that.

i also like that track third sequence on the wipeout
soundtrack by photek. definitely one of photeks best
tracks.

modus operandi is brilliant. i spent hours listening to it
at the airport 8 years ago.

i have the terminus single and i quite like it. Do you know
if he ever went back to hyper detailed stuff again after
solaris? or did he disappear into movie soundtracks and big
money after that?

one thing i know from an interview is that, yeah, he got
into soundtracks production. and i also found this

the review looks encouraging.

half the tracks on "hidden camera" were on the album as
well. then there's a good but not as good version of
"hidden camera," and a borderline filler track, "hybrid."

what makes the ep that much better than the album?

i was just listening there. . . some real shite on it=[ a
slew of terrible vocal tracks and rock influences stuff and
a handful of generic remixes.

but check out 'One Nation' which is really good classic
water margin era photek with sweet programming. . .

legendary album
smoke rings is my fav on that track together with trans 7.

form & function is good as well, and im one of few enjoying
solaris.
newer releases together with teebee, fabio etc are
enjoyable, but he's not among todays best dnb artist.

TeeBees remix of Ni Ten Ichi Ryu is very very good. Dark and
moody:) remix
