My first hardware sampler. I sold my Korg Poly 6 and my
Realistic Mg-1 for 400$ (Insane deal) then instantly bought
this of ebay. I paid like 330$ canadian (I got exspress
shipping) and with the rest of the money I bought fast food
and smokes BLARG!

Anyway, has anyone used an s20 before? Did I pay too much?
Anything I should know about it ?

The s20 is a fine sampler... all Akai samplers are good
especially the MPC 2000 which is the centre point of
Prefuse73's studio and many other hip hoppers.

I am a bit astounded that you sold your Poly 6... aren't
those uber rare now?

Also, how come you decided on hardware instead of software?
Steinbergs Halion or Native Instruments Kontact wipe their
bums with all hardware samplers!

i used to use an s01 which could only hold eight samples at
any one time, then i moved to an s2000 which was a big leap.
but i prefered the s01 really - 1 button for each sound,
forced the creativity out! Hardware sequencing is good,
because most people use software and its good to be
different from the crowd

The only thing the poly 6 did for me was make music SOUND
BETTER to people cause it looks way awesome. The thing is
pretty limited. Absynth wipes its bum with the poly 6 :)

I want a hardware sampler cause Im sick of using all these
insane softwares. I want limits, raise the bar a little at a
time.

Right now the only thing Im running is ,
900mhz amd with ACID and wavlab 4
A korg electribe em1, a yamaha tx81z and a midiman 4 I/O
card (Which sucks balls). everything going in , has to go
through my alesis 3630 dual compressor and of course a
mixing board.

I want to start recording to tape, Its way fun. dig out a
tape recorder and make some demo stuff. Youll find it on a
rainy day , listen to it, and learn from it.

ANYWHO thanks for the info guys !
