Okay, I know that spam is usually frowned upon and people
generally pay no attention to posts like these but I
honestly don't care and I'm going to ask you to go to

http://www.zebox.com/japes

I've been producing for three years and I've had no feedback
because no one's heard my stuff. Just wanted to let you know
I exist.

Sorry if you find these at all cryptic:

Soflipp's really pretty. Suits the weather where I am. Kind
of sunny and cloudy at the same time.

When I Think of You's got a ditty which makes it sort of
chug along. I like the fluid use of effects.

Olive and Bobo's similar to When I Think of You, in that
it's got a chirpy melody. Got some really nice drum work
there too. I like the way the snare's quite long and it sort
of pushes everything along. Proper IDM style. Nice chimes
too.

I prefer more breakbeat/spazzbreak orientated, so I kind of
wanted When I Think of You to move into a stuttering manic
beat collage instead of a trip-hoppy beat. That's just my
preference though. I've got a really short attention span or
something. Anyway, they're pretty professional sounding,
mate. Let me know if any more of your tracks become
available.

Actually, mate, if you've still got the sounds for When I
Think of You, I'd love to remix it at some stage.

Ah yeah. Happened to me a while back. Lost a Missy Eliot
remix I'd turned into an electro fuckup. It's like losing a
small part of youself.

Checking your stuff now Jaroen.

offline japes from Suriname on 2003-06-10 11:16 [#00735024]

Mac iBook G3 with a cracked version of PlayerPRO, Free
Plugins and lots of samples stolen off the interweb and
Jimmy Brown CDs (dontcha know!).

It's piss poor but I know how to use it.

"spam is usually frowned upon and people generally pay no
attention to posts like these
"

What are you talking about? :-p
All the musicmakers here spam all the time, and it is highly
appreciated. Also, threads like these usually get a fair
amount of replies. If i made music, i'd surely be telling
everyone about it too. ;-)

Anyway, í'm listening to What We Think About When We're
Alone
now, and it sounds really nice. RDJalbum-ish i
think. I like the contrast between the soft flowing melody,
and the aggresive beats that kick in every now and then.
I'll listen to the other 2 aswell./

here's something to check out.

inevitable sound

i'll download one of yours right now, japes. i usually only
check out one track at a time since i'm limited by the 56k
modem.

i'll say it again:
i like the "listen to my shit" threads. even though i don't
always listen i like to know what "the competition" is up
to.
heh

i checked out "what we think when we're alone," definitely
shows the afx influence. nice melody and tasteful snare,
good variety of sounds. keep working on finding your own
voice, using more unique sounds, and developing your
compositions.

i listened to 'vacate the space'

i think it's good. there is a lot of interesting sequencing
going on. Its sounds kinda cold and 1 dimensional though.
maybe that was intentional.
i just tend to like songs that have more volume, spacially,
or tracks with more color or melody.
If this were my track, I would do more with effects and eq
to get more ambience or space behind the drums and stuff..
but then again, it ain't my track so Cheers!

Wow. You guys are really nice about all this. When you're
discussing stuff or wanting to share your tracks, the
Planet-Mu board gets pretty vitriolic and intense.

Thanks for all positive and negative criticisms. Vacate the
Scene was supposed to be cold, but I think you're right. It
could use a bit more sprucing up perhaps. And Mr. Tea, would
you like me to email you the scource sounds as wavs or will
you just work with the MP3?

hows it going with the ear cleaners by the way?

offline japes from Suriname on 2003-06-10 17:57 [#00735487]

Thanks for all your comments (both positive and negative).
This place is the exact opposite of the Planet-Mu board.
It's great!

Plaid Zebra: I'm digging your Goon remix. Very lush. Seems
like it'd be cool walking music. I dunno I just get the
feeling of walking from the rhythm. I wasn't too keen on the
giant walls of noise that shatter the chimes, but that's
because I slipped into a daydream and they woke me from it.

Jaroen: Roulez Relax was pretty sweet. I'd tweak the beats a
bit for a bit of variety here and there though. I didn't
really get much feeling from your other stuff so much but it
was pretty smooth. Some nice hooks.

Binaural Tea: Would you like me to email you the scource
sounds in WAV format (complete with the Public Enemy rap)?
Thanks loads by the way!

Fuck!
This message board is messing with my mind.

Wow! Thanks for asking mate! Did you submit anything for the
Ear Cleaners? I've got all the tracks lined up, and I'm
trying to get some kind of cover art together, then I'm
gonna ask the CD place how many of your Earth pennies I
shall have to part with.

But yeah, the tracks are all buff!

I've just looked at my status and it's changed from Lurker
to Addict in one day. That's just fucking depressing.
