Just watched this movie. I enjoyed it. It's pretty sad and
morbid though, especially the Ian Curtis bit. What a
loonball he was

Did you like the bit in the van where he says 'It's not what
it looks like!!' Ho ho..!

loved all the stuff about Shaun Ryder.

man, that Tony Wilson - how he could keep his cool. I
would've strangled Ryder long before.

That pigeon scene was priceless, a great way to introduce
the characters. I loved that movie, I only wish they
would've featured The Smiths. I know they wanted to but I
believe Morrissey put the brakes on it at the last minute.

spot ON! while it was kinda cruel, it was hilarious at the
same time (i liked the part where they said NO actual
pidgeons were harmed in the making of the movie, ALTHOUGH
some people consider them RATS.....AHHAHA)

i love BRITISH humor, i think i'd get on quite well over
there. one reason is cos like in this movie it's dry and
SMART, gotta love that combo. i didn't miss anything Tony
said, and i got the LITERARY references, which made me feel
happy!

anyway the movie was a riot, and it touched ever so briefly
on the unhappy life of Ian Curtis, and what a heroic effort
made by the rest of the band to continue as New Order, how
many times does that happen?

anyway i'd like to visit manchester.....i think i'd like it,
especially if there's a place like the HACIENDA to dance
in!!!

=0)

TWO thumbs UP as ebert would say =0)

It is a great film. Especially if you were into Factory,
like I presume a lot of people here were, or are...
Further watching for the hardcore: The film Ian Curtis
watched before hanging himself is called Stroszek and is by
Werner Herzog. If you ever get a chance to see it, do so!!!
It is morbid beyond belief...I will post samples from it on
my home page soon...

is that the one with the HEN? that you saw playing in the
background?

i had never heard of FACTORY before this movie......d'oHH

but i do now, that Tony guy is a laugh riot.......i saw God
and he was in MY IMAGE.......bahahhahha

i have to say the delected DRUG scene was
harrowing......made my skin CRAWL!

on the 2nd one is a documentary about Michael Winterbottom
and a viewing of 24 hour party people with a bunch of people
from that time, commenting on the film - for example, Hooky,
one of the singers of the Happy Mondays, one of the guys
from A Certain Ratio.

how is Stroszek morbid?..its a satire on america, its more
comic than tragedy.

24 HPP is a good (false) retelling of the Factory story.

i loved that movie!
in the second dvd you can see some junkies who survived to
all that (i'm not talking about Hook, but Shaun Ryder)

who doesn't want to run a record label after seeing this
movie?

About Stroszek I think its morbid, but its also comic and
bizarre. I love it when they get to America and all music
start sounding like Nilson´s "Everybodys talkin"...

yeah come here. its a great place - when its sunny anyway.

the hacienda has been knocked down now though. there are
some flats being built on the site at the moment. the
slogan they are using to try to get you to buy one is;

Now the partys over......you can come home.

how shit is that? cashing in maybe????

there are still some good clubs here though.

news just in......

shaun ryder has dismissed the 24 hour party people movie as
a joke.

"the script i saw was about what happened to factory and the
hacienda. the film i saw was about steve coogan trying to
play a new character and then going 'why bother, illl just
do alan partridge and just call him someone else'."

hahahhaha. well, i think it's obvious the film is way off
the mark when it comes to factuality, but i really enjoyed
"alan patridge" here. hilarious movie.
