realised the other day while i was listening to xtal in
spain that it couldnt have been made on a pc (along with the
rest of the album) and then i realised that SAW 85-92 is
even more special: an example of electronica at it its best.
btw even the best multimedia pc in 1992 wouldnt have had a
good enough sound card or even the memory to facilitate
music making to any significant degree. maybe u lot already
realise this but its nice to remember when listening to the
album cos its makes the music even more awesome.

SAW 85-92 and Amber could have used some tambourine.

Basic Aphex setup used to be an atari for sequencing, yamaha
dx7 (those brass sounds are all over saw1), sh101, casio
Fz-1 sampler, R8 drum machine with the 909,808 sounds, multi
fx units (reverb, delay etc).

Tracks were quickly written up as loops in sequencer and
then mixed down live to dat, you can hear all the mixer
movents on the early tracks, especially the caustic window
stuff with the punching in and out of tracks and the muting
of the fx returns blah blah blah
