What's with everyone saying RDJ album is the best? I haven't heard Drukqs yet, but IMO out of the ones I have I Care Because You Do takes the cake... RDJ is really good though...

I care because you do - is by far the best. It sounds like he had real fun making this album, DrukQs just doesn't work as an album, it sounds exactly like Richard says 'a mixed bunch of tracks from the last 5 years'.

The RDJ album get's my numero uno vote....all the tracks are short and perfectly formed...
#2. The come to daddy mini album....disturbing & funny...all at the same time, again all the tracks are concise and full of ideas
#3 Windowlicker.......My fav electronic track ever
#4 I care because...... lots of lo-fi gems especially ....alberto balsam & cow cud is a twin
I'm still trying to get my gulliver around Druqks
keeping an eye out for selected ambient works 85-92
s a w II is toss ...pretty much

i'm listening to it right now for the first time... but i just have to say that deciding which is his best album is like trying to decide between friends on who is your "best friend"~~ they each have their worthwhile qualities.
but i will tell you this much though...
he's still got it. but he better watch out-- i've got an oscilliscope, and I'm not scared to use it... (for music that is)
thanks, twin... for all the music... wherever you are.

I own the RDJ, Come to Daddy, Surfing on Sinewaves (which is pretty cool by the way) and I Care Because You Do, and ICBYD is by far the best... it's absolutely amazing, from start to finish... As someone else put it, "it works on a third dimension" or something to that effect... RDJ is good, but sounds childish (no doubt that was his intention though) and is way too short... Come to Daddy is excellent, but is just too short and not quite as good... Surfing on Sine Waves is good, but too dancy for me... ICBYD is AMAZING!!!!!

Oh, and by the way... this is maybe a bit off topic, but not too much... has anyone here heard the album Passion by Peter Gabriel... this is an awesome album... now I love Aphex Twins music, but Passion is head and shoulders above it... it's on a totally different level... and really, it's like an organic, non electronic, Techno album, so it's not totally off topic... anyways, if you haven't heard it, look for it, it's AMAZING!!!!!! :)

the fast stuff is pure afx..the "2 remixes"single was a teaser..the short paino clips are a change..maybe the SAW3 will be in that realm...and "nanu 2"
will make ENO proud.."hangable auto bulb"showed early on for "Drukqs" i think..over all...i give it an "8"----RDJ LP is good..but for ICBYD to follow Select 2
was a outstanding move

ok Funkmaster, I've had PASSION ofr about 7 years now, and it is a great album but incomparable to RDJ in my opinion.
This is just a matter of taste in terms of the music ofcourse.
Sorry, but PASSION is not written by Peter Gabriel as far as I know, its just performed by him , and he does a good job of it.
But RDJ works on a way higher level of musical genius then Gabriel does on any day of the week ( no disrespect to Gabriel), but lets not forget that this is Aphex we're talking about now.
Aphex in these past 12 years has already walked circles around Gabriel in terms of sheer musical innovations and progressiveness.
Let alone the fact that RDJ can write the most melancholy, heartwrenching and sad music under the sun, whenever he pleases.
This is just a matter of pure musical taste IMO, but in terms of musical prowess and sheer unparalleled uncharted universes, ermmmm Richard is the fucking King, sorry......
Aphex is leaps ahead of everyone anyways in terms of imagination and creativity....

Well, I must disagree... I don't want to get into an all out arguement, but IMO Peter Gabriel is the best songwriter around... but yeah, this is just opinion, you can't prove who is better... Peter Gabriel and Richard D. James are the two most brilliant musicians around, but I think Peter Gabriel gets the edge just a bit... and Passion is definately my favorite album...
oh, and where in the world did you hear that Passion wasn't even written by Peter Gabriel? Unless you can prove it to me, that is total bull shit... Peter Gabriel wrote the music, but had lots of help performing it... maybe that's what you mean...

Oh, and that's just laughable *hahaha* how you can say that the RDJ album blows Passion away... now, ICBYD is pretty close to the genius that is Passion, but doesn't equal it, so RDJ is definately not... RDJ is good, but come on, Passion good? No way...
