I'm trying the Fruity demo and I find it works better with my sound card than Cubase or Sonar - lower latency and no crackling. Anyhoo.
The one thing I have not figured out how to do is to record an audio track live through the analog in while monitoring the other tracks.
What kind of channel do I need to create to do this? It's driving me nuts. The interface is maddeningly different than the sequencers I'm used to.

Hmmmm... I managed to do it but I can only record something the length of a pattern. If I record something longer it like loops back and plays over itself. Teh sucks!!!!!

you might not have a sound card that can't reallly record while playing something.. i know mine can't do that really..if i try to record while playing something, what's being played allways bleeds through..
to get around it, i'd usually pan what i want to listen to to one side, then pan what's being recorded to the other..

There are plugins that you can get that allow you to record individual effect channels at a time. I know there are at least two available through em411.com. Unfortunately these just record onto your hard drive, and not through an independant line out.

No, I have separate channels for analog in, digital in and monitor mix - in Cakewalk I can record analog in while listening to everything and only the analog in gets recorded.
My problem seems to be - and I dunno if I'm using the correct terminology here - I want to record the audio right to the playlist, instead of making it part of a pattern. That way I can have a part last as long as I please independent of any pattern lenght. Like using a multitrack tape machine.

ooooookay
I think I have it figured out - you have to make a disk recording to a wave file with the analog in as a source (think this only works with ASIO cards) then insert your wav file into an audio playlist track.
Overall it's like trying to lick the back of your head - woh! But it works and it doesn't give me any driver/latency headaches so I may buy a copy after some more dicking around.
