Some people just seem to have no life...

...hanging around on the internet allmost half of their
day, or more.

Or am I wrong?

During the week I am online every day for like 4 to 5
hours.
Chatting, some forums you know the routine.

Is my social life getting narrower or is it increasing, or
just changing?

Second, does being on the internet for a long time depress
you?

if it depressed me i wouldnt do it. to be honest the
internet is the lowest prority, ie if ive got nothing better
to do. but this place is pretty social albeit slightly on
the surreal & virtual side, is it not?

Well, I am online all through my working day...thats about
11 hours a day...five days a week. Seeing as it is because
of my work...I won't consider that out of the ordinary.

Your social life is decreasing, undoubtedly...if you chose
to reduce it. If you prefer the kind of relationships that
you form over the internet, well then that is your social
life. So in a sense, it is another way for people to
interact...and hence a changed form of social life. But it
would not take the place of real life unless that is what
you want.

Being on the internet for long has never depressed
me...seeing as I am clinically prone to depression, the fact
that I don't get depressed is a sure indicator that for me
it si not a depressive cause. But if you are the kinda
person that is very depressed...then maybe lack of company
from real people can pull you under faster. In which case
peobably, being online really long does you no good. Which
would be a good reason to stop doing it.

The reason I posted this thread was, that I wondered if
someone's life can shift partially to the 'virtual world'
(which in my opinion is as real as the real world).

As real as the real world as making friends and other social
contacts online.
If there was to be a european XLtronic meeting in, for
example, danmark. How many of you would actually show up?
