here it is, folks! the follow-up to my "study for a student film" series. "rainy day interlude" is the title. this was recorded at my friends house in lancaster as part of a series of improvised recordings done spontaneously with household items. the left to return some videos, so while they were gone i did this. as you will hear around the minute mark, there was an "interuption" in the recording (courtesy of glasse's wife)... i quite like it just as it is. adds a little something to the performance. anyway, this is a rough diamond. it will probably be polished up and included later in the improv piece we are working on. |

okay. at first listen i thought i was a little disappointed by the "poor sound quality". but see...now that i'm through it i'm thinking that was the idea, yeah? and i'm thinking that it works very well. i like it, even. with the faintest bit of background noise. and the answering machine was a nice touch, guy (was that an accident?). very well done. =] |

yeah, the phone thing was an accident... like i said, i personally think it works. i DO plan on polishing the sound quality up a bit. normalise the wav, add some reverb. eq. |

yeah, its one of those things im very glad got documented... i nice moment in time... me alone at someone else's house... late at night... and i feel it totally evokes the rainy day vibe. |

i posted over in the musicians thread but i'll do here well... cupycake reminded me of the ambiance in eraserhead, i enjoyed this track! rainy day has a wonderful feeling to it, lovely melody, and as i said in the other thread, i can't stand ringing phones when i'm trying to record, but it goes well here! nice! |

That is beautiful, tibbar...so blooming ambient...really fades into the stmosphere...I felt like I was a camera's lens seeing an empty house on a rainy cloudy afternoon. I just didn't get it initially, but somewhere midway it struck as to how beautiful it was...and the answering machine makes the house seem that much more empty... Funny, how many people on this board actually like the gamelan sounds. I love them too. PS. I thought the cuppycake sample was just fabulous...where is that from ? I get the feeling I've heard it before. Great track, that too. |

im playing a xylophone or vibraphone-ish sound on a keyboard, but the contact mic is taped to the wall in the hallway. the girl who calls up is glasse's wife. i thoguht, for some reason, it just works so well with the piece. i was HELLA pissed when it happened, but then i listened back to it and i kinda liked it. |
