All you can really do is organize sound and light
really...

Dude, programming is great. You can make entire
economies do all kinds of insane things. Okay I
haven't reached that point yet. But who knows what Bill
Gates has in store for us - he could easily pop up messages
like "Your computer has attempted an illegal operation.
Please switch to a renewable energy source and stop eating
veal."

Yeah, but that's just using light as deceptive
communication. You can also use light and sound to create
other indirect phenomenon like games. Well, with current
popular computers the OUTPUT is light and sound (what else
is there?). I suppose you can make the output be whatever
you want though, just like you can make the input whatever
you want, something analogue like a mouse or digital like a
keyboard... or you could somehow fashion windchimes up to it
or something crazy. I'm definately no expert, but w. daniel
hillis is. I want to read his book about super parrallel
computers.

I find it funny that you put samples to something like
"monster munch" on the colony site when (I think) crunch1 is
soooo much better. Well, I couldn't find an address to mail
demos to at colony. I probably wrote it down a long time ago
but might have lost it. I made a pretty small
album-type-thing. I made 2 copies, then ended up only
sending one to schematic (I was going to send the other to
musik aus strom, before I even knew of colony, but didn't
get around to it.) Maybe I can send a cd of my pointless
organized sound to you (which seems almost pointless given
that mp3's are transferable across the internet?) if you
want? Or I could just rotate some tracks (I have some at
www.mp3.com/snarkle too) so you can hear the others if you
want. I'll probably check this messageboard tommorrow at the
same time. Later.

yo colonymike.

before the flood of here's my music posts pop up, i'll
try and get my foot in the door before its closed, by
mentioning ex-board member flea's music :. very
glitchy (although i always find that term used in a very
wide sense) ~in a richard devine kind of way. one of his
multitude of sites is http://zebox.com/knobject/ .: i thoroughly
recommend you check it out. he's got a shit load of
material, and produces at an incredible rate :. worth
checking out (a shame he took "optic drill" down tho, that
was f[[kin fat :)

cheked out flea but couldn't get call/qrter's to work sorry
?

w M w, the traks on the colony site are for everyone, that
mm is a bit of fun, feat traks from Now13 mixed and glitched
for a nostalgic yet conemporary effect ; )

you really need to chek out soundforge, that is the sound
you can hear in C1, funkstorung traks that you like, it's PC
and it's an editor so you can just put a load of audio in
(beats for ex) and do loads of mad shit to it (burn it to
the audio) and then slip the layer back into your
arrangement or add strings etc ontop in something like
cubas/logic ...

C2's cassette or vexem cane any trak on C1 not to mention
the remixes from lusine/funkstorung and the others ...

ever chek out the delikatessen release ? plate 2 on 10" ?

colony aren't serious, i like allsorts and we'll put all
sorts out by the time i'm done ...

9 dower house
15 manorgate rd
kingston
surrey
kt2 7ua. uk.

that's the add for demos btw, can't guarantee any reply but
i will guarantee i gets listened to !!

new web site coming soon too, just an electronica and stuff
site connected to colony by me with lots of links and mad
shit to look at.

soundforge is great. they just released a new version (build
6.0e I believe).

I have heard that before, about people not being able to use
www.mp3.com.au

this is my zebox adress

give a listen to the track called armer if you will -
its the best thing on there at the moment.

and this seems to be call's old site there..

don't know how old that stuff is though..

I'll check out new music creating tools like soundforge
someday. A much better track by flea, I think, is at
www.zebox.com/pop called "fried cherub on rye". Call's music
is also great. But don't listen to qrter's music. Man that
stuff sucks.
I did indeed have to change my pants and whoever guesses the
correct orifice that caused this before I do, wins both the
pants AND the stain. It was my left ear. Ha, you all lost.
I shall sendth you a see dee shmike!

i read this entire thread and didn't understand any of it.

i think my last weekend mayt have been a little too long and
wild.

my membrane is going on the insane.

PS w M w - outpuit can easily be sound and light but you
forget heat, motion etc etc all basic forms of energy. I'm
unsure about matter (food, clothing etc) as being an OUTPUT
coz I don't think new matter itself is created at all, or
very often, maybe someone else can answer my statement posed
as a question and finish my rough equation.

Holy shiot, dude what about stuff like emotion and
intelligence as being an output?
coz they're all made from chemical reactions and they can
also serve as input (ie interacintg with other beings that
can understand them - hell even animals can understand
anger)

I'm starting to work night crew at a grocery store. It's a
great job, but only relative to other crappy jobs since it
has good enough pay (eventually), it's close and it's
mindless, and when I leave I can erase it from my mind. So
I've been getting 5 hours sleep for about 4 months... then
sometimes zone out for 12 hours one day a week (one time for
17 hours...) Not that this is interesting.

it will kill you in the end.

I have been living for years now like you've described, and
I am having huge crashes, more and more frequently.

I just can't get up anymore, I zone out a whole week.

not good.
