You know any genious?
A friend of mine's father is a true math-genious...

He has even done stuff that no professional mathematician
has been able to accomplish, and he does it using simpel
methods, like a piece of paper and a calculator.
This is not bullshit. I can tell you his name is
LÃ¥ngberg...

I'm gonna bump this thread up if he decides to go public. He
could easaliy make a living doing math,
but it's his passion, his hobby, which he prefers doing in
his sparetime.
He's a driver... hehe.

yeah...
I've only seen some of his work since my friend doesn't live
at home, but it's amazing stuff.
He makes math beautiful.

in my school - there are kids that are basically human
calculators - they are in teh special education classes
because they cannot perform in the same way that regular
people can - but ive seen these kids stand there while
people ask them questions - "256 * 1028" (then the kid
answers correctly in under a second) - some of the stuff
they can do is amazing - but its not without a loss

You're into math to?
I think he's gonna send one of his systems to Guiness (that
world record-association).
He has actually done stuff not done before.
And he does them so simply.

It's like coding, he doesn't add any crappy code, he just
does what is needed and writes really small working stuff.

cool...
well not sure he's good at math in that way (he's a "normal"
person)...
Dunno how his minds work though, cause it is obviosly one of
a kind...

I have actually not met his father =(
he lives like 500 km or so away from where I and my friend
lives. But sometimes when my friend visits his folks he
brings back some of his father's work and shows it to me...
I'm always amazed...

About those special ed kids,
I find that kind of thing fascinating. I saw an interview on
tv once with a mentaly challenged artist who could recreate
to insane detail, buildings, cities, nature, etc after
seeing them once. I'm going to visit my family this
weekend, and my one little bro is slightly challenged and it
amazes me sometimes when i go home and see his abstract
drawings and 3d representations.
