any fans of this trumpetist here? he's released a bunch of
solo albums and collaborated with some great artists like
d'angelo and common.. samples of his latest
here

the new song with d'angelo rocks like an isaac hayes
classic.. the track w/ q-tip and badu "poetry" is quite good
too.. haven't heard all of it yet

it's not idm... thankfully

they say the album... and these are just short clips of
course... is a lot like d'angelo's voodoo, which roy
played a lot on

i got to see Hargrove live at Massey Hall in Toronto, a few
weeks ago, with Herbie Hancock, Roy Jones, Kenny Garret, Roy
Haynes, and Dave Holland... it was to commemorate the 50th
anniversary of one of the finest jazz concerts of all time
with Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, Max
Roach, and Bud Powell, which had occured at Massey hall 50
years prior (and sounds like a really, really wicked concert
to me)... i thought Hargrove was quite impressive... Jazz is
so wicked, i wish i was better acquainted with it...

great album, especially that slow burning cover of
funkadelic's "i'll stay" w/ d'angelo and the 2nd half of
"poetry" w/ badu and me'shell.
