offline fat kaimo from Finland on 2003-05-25 11:30 [#00714136]

it's not on any cd version of saw2, only the vinyl vers and
a some ambient compilation cd ('excursions in ambience vol.x
or something'.)

one of my favourites from saw2 too, - can't understand why
this song exactly had to be taken off the cd versions.

it probably didn't fit on the cd? that's my guess

funkmaster: yeah, but the track is 10min. he probably had to
replace 2 (lame) tracks so it could fit. it would have been
worth it though

beats, and the 'Spy Acedmy' did a mix of it withthat playing
in the background with Jerry sinefeld doing a routine over
the top of it?

To reinterate:

"Stone in Focus" is the cddb name for the track, the
original tracks had no name for the tracks, just pictures.
The track is found on side E, the third LP in the 3 LP set.
A picture of the label on the record is below. "Stone in
Focus" is the largest "pie slice" on the label...

This same track is available on an Astralwerks compilation
known as "Excursions in Ambience: The Third Dimension".
It's the last track on the CD; labeled as "Aphex Twin, #19,
indicating the 19th track out of the original 25 tracks
released on the _vinyl_ issue of "Selected Ambient Works II"
(side E, second track)

yeah, but he could've left one of the stupid lame tracks
off it...

Ya got me on why that track (assuming you mean the next to
last track on CD2, "white blur 2") made it instead of "Stone
in focus". One of the many mysteries of The Aphex Twin...

Admittedly it is a really beautiful track...I heard
somewhere they left it out for 'technical reason'...whatever
those might be. Was there enough space on those CDs for more
?

he should just get to work on number 3 quick smart, and make
it 3 cds if need be :)

http://aphextwin.watmm.com/afx_comps.shtml

#19 was left off the US and UK CD versions due to space
limitations. No idea why #4 was left off the US CD version.

Excursions In Ambience - The Third Dimension is the ONLY
place to get this track in CD format.

(my apologies in advance for the informational spam)

No. Both CDs run very close to the maximum 80 minutes they
can allow. 24 was all Warp could fit.
