get yer arse on soulseek and get this soundmurderer set and
dj sy oldschool jungle set from me if you're into that
stuff. i prefer nu-school d&b myself so you can find enough
of that as well.

ED RUSH & OPTICAL IN 8 DAYS, YES INDEED!

DJ Sy is my HERO! I have a mix of him playing in '94 at the
Q club in brum, quality scratch mixing hardcore stuff... and
then Bukem comes on and plays a great "intelligent hardcore"
set, the best mix tape I have... plus the MC says "whistle
crew handle the dark side" at one point.

Check out Photek's old aliases. Go to either allmusic.com
or discogs.com to see what they are.

Download some "Congo Natty"
Whicked stuff.

Also try to find old compilations with lame names like
"Jungle Mania" or "Jungle Wars" . Best way to get into it
IMO.

ed rush & optical are fucking good. I own ALL of their
material, including the solo projects

download optical - the shining (ed rush & optical remix), or
the track Fixation (my favourite d'n'b track ever) from
their classic 'wormhole' album

first when i heard it, it sounded VERY familiar. then i
found out the synth melody is sampled from david bowie's
"let's dance"

Really?

Cool i have to check that bowie track out.

Source Direct sampled alot of aphex SAW ll (can't remember
the track) on "Stonekiller" . I don't mind that cause it
works really well.

Diablo

I've been searching for a mix like that for ages, I gave my
collection of old skool tapes to a friend about 5 years ago,
they included loads of old jungle/darkcore by the likes of
EasyGroove, Sy, Slipmat, Randall, GrooveRider, Ratty, Micky
Finn, etc (you know the ones) just to name a few of the more
well known DJ's........Anyway, I've since regreted my
foolishness 'cos alot of those old tapes are irreplaceable &
I've since realised that I miss them *reminices*....Fuck,
I'm digressing again. I just thought maybe if I asked you
really nicely Diablo (pleeaase?!?!?!) you might send me out
a copy of your mix tape?

yes, wormhole is great, but i can imagine why people wouldnt
like it. its seriously harsh and cold stuff at times. a bit
like confield or aleamapper but then with breaks all over.

my fav. ed rush & optical track is still 'shrinkwrap' but i
dont know which release it's on. Also, the shining is indeed
great. one of the most played tracks in my playlist at the
moment.

check out this lineup for next saturday:

Major League

I DJ drum& bass every 2 weeks at a club in kent, if anyone
from round there wants to come down... also play on lean fm
pirate and internet radio sometimes. Gotta get a recent mix
up to d/l, when I do i'll let u lot know. I play lots of
atmospheric rollers, like Andy C, Ant Miles, Ed Rush &
Optical etc. also some of the euro type stuff like Bad
Company / Concord Dawn etc.

shrinkwrap is on the Planet V 2CD compilation which i own. I
love breaks in that track, very heavy and funky

for me, wormhole has a real surreal/sci-fi/horror sound to
it, which maybe reflects my movie taste. the use of sounds
in some parts is just mindblowing. The work of Optical i
would guess, his technical skills are so awesome

post back?
