I would just like to give out my congratulations to Celtic Football Club tonight. They display a tremendous resiliance and sportsmanship, unlike Porto who used every cheap-trick in the book. Still fair to them, but Celtics name should be etched on that trophy tonight. Larsson was spectacular. My heart goes out to the team. You did us proud bhoys

In accepting his Academy award for Best Documentary, Michael Moore said that we are living in "Fictitious times". Moore was, of course, referring to the ongoing crisis in Iraq but he could quite have easily been referring to Rangers winning the Scottish Premier League in 2002/03. Now before I begin, let's get one thing out of the way, YES I am a Celtic fan and some might say what you are about to read is simply sour grapes. Fine. See it that way if you must but please read it all and think about it first. If you still think it's merely the ramblings of a bitter Celtic fan then so be it, but the fact is that Rangers stole the SPL last season. They only took four points from a maximum 12 from Celtic yet still won the league, this simply does not happen. Barry Ferguson won every Player of the Year award going in Scotland last season, for what exactly? How many games did he single-handedly win Rangers? Answer: One's they got penalties in. Henrik Larsson scored 45 goals for Celtic, including 11 in Europe and gets nothing. Seeing as Rangers got an average of one penalty every three games last season, it's starting to get clearer. Where have you ever heard of that happening before? A team getting an average of one penalty every three games? Don't bother thinking, it doesn't happen anywhere else. (For point of reference, in the early 90's Celtic went an entire YEAR without being awarded a single spot kick) Of course Rangers fans will tell you that they are an attacking side, always in the box, hence so many penalties. Garbage. If that was the case, how did they get so many penalties between August and January then none til April? Doesn't quite add up does it? What does add up is the five penalties they got in the last five games of the league split (THREE in one game at Dens Park, one when it was 0-0 at Tynecastle and one when they really needed goals in the last game of the season.)

Not convinced yet? Well there's more. Rangers had a mammoth TWELVE players sent off against them last season. Yes, that's right TWELVE. Gerry Britton (Partick Thistle), Kevin McNaughton (Aberdeen), Toure-Maman (Livingston), David Partridge (Motherwell), Gary Smith(twice)& Paco Luna (Hibernian), Khizaishvil (Dundee), Sean Kilgannon (Dunfermline), Alan Maybury (Hearts), Jim MacIntyre (Dundee Utd) and Neil Lennon (Celtic) were all dismissed against Rangers in Scotland last season. Almost all of them at crucial points in the game. My own particular favourites were Gerry Britton who asked the Referee to get hold of Kevin Muscat and in doing so touched Muscat's (who was out of sight to Britton) face. Muscat when down like the proverbial ton of bricks and Britton was red carded. Then there was Kevin McNaughton who was sent off for chesting a ball to safety (Rangers were also awarded a penalty) and last but certainly not least, Paco Luna who was, I kid you not, sent off for scoring against Rangers. The ball was played across the goal and Luna headed the ball into the net. Whilst he began his celebration, Referee Hugh Dallas sent him off for a handball that wasn't there. This is not paranoia, this is fact. This is another reason a distinctly average Rangers side was allowed to keep a league challenge going. Next season, Referee's in Scotland will be asked to explain their decisions, if it was last season, they'd still be talking now.

There was however another huge factor in Rangers winning the treble last season. Celtic got to the UEFA Cup Final. Rangers were defeated in the same tournament's first round by the European elite of Victoria Krakow but Celtic beat Suduva, Blackburn Rovers, Celta Vigo, Stuttgart, Liverpool and Boavista before narrowing losing after extra time to Porto in the final. In the past, Rangers asked for and were given help by the SFA with respect to fixtures being moved to enable their players more rest period. At no stage was this even suggested to Celtic. Worse was to follow. The SPL announced the post-split fixtures and, blow me down, Celtic were scheduled to play Rangers at Ibrox a mere 48 hours after arriving back from Oporto and a UEFA Cup semi final. Celtic Chief Executive at the time, Ian McLeod, said what every fan was thinking, "This is nothing more than attempt to give Rangers an advantage"(albeit the fans had a few expletives thrown in for good measure). Celtic manager Martin O'Neill, who was equally as livid, stated that "If Rangers were in our position, this would not have happened" also claiming that an SPL official had lied to him. The SPL refused to budge and the enemies of Celtic and Ian McLeod within the SPL Chairmen thought they had exacted their revenge for him not being "one of the boys" by ensuring Rangers would now be able to step up and put two hands on the SPL trophy as going into the match, Rangers were already eight points ahead of Celtic and even a draw would be good enough to all but wrap the title up. However fuelled by a sense of injustice, Celtic tore Rangers apart winning 2-1, that's 2-1 going on 5-1 and the league title was up for grabs again.

Maybe me and Michael Moore are wrong, maybe these are actually factual times, weapons of mass destruction will be found and Rangers will be realised as worthy "Champions", not that the two are linked of course. At least not that I know of. Moore ended his Oscars's speech by saying "Any time you've got The Pope and The Dixie Chicks against you, you know it's time to quit" Well we know half of that is true of Rangers, I've heard The Dixie Chicks are Celtic fanatics
