You sure you need 5 channels? 3 is enough for most people, especially when you factor in being able to change so that one record deck is playing with one CD deck at the flick of a switch...
You can run 2 cd decks, 2 record decks and have one "spare" (for PC/other mixer input) like you would on a 5 channel one.
Sadly I've not used 5 channel mixers (4 is the most) so I can't recommend a specific one.

"being able to change so that one record deck is playing with one CD deck at the flick of
a switch..."
And doing this you don't get the nasty silence you get if you twiddle the "assign crossfader" knob a bit too slowly :)

ah but you get a click unless you mod your switches like I have :P I simply added a resistor to both switches to tie them to ground to eliminate pops when switching! Make it say 10K ohms or 100K ohms if 10K doesn't work (although it should). A small amount of analogue electronics knowledge, a soldering iron, 2 resistors and a mixer.....and you're sorted!

do you want kill switches? do you want to scratch with it?
ceri is right, why do you want 5 channels you can assign to 3 inputs on single channels these days. so you can run a cd, deck and pc off 1 channel.
i've never needed more than 3 channels with 8 inputs between them. mind you if you are the new cut chemist then maybe you do.....
btw i've got a vestax pmc-170a which i love.

CERI-
to start dj'ing -which would you start out with... turntables or cd decks?
I'm leaning towards CD decks, mainly because it's a whole lot cheaper (burning cds, rather then spending $$$ on vinyl)

the pioneer DJM 600 is cool, it has effects that you can affect individual channels or the whole mix. they're really brash so it sounds good loud, it helps you with the bpm if it's a steadyish rhythm + they sound brilliant!

a combination of both goes well, after all - vinyl is way more fun, but way expensive
plus you can play 'new' tunes as soon as they're leaked with a CD deck..

Asche: Hmm, whilst CD media is cheaper than vinyl, good CD decks (Pioneer or Denon) are a hell of a lot more expensive than good vinyl decks...
The snobbery relating to vinyl (people who say CD decks are a joke) can be a bit off putting, but CD decks are quickly catching up in terms of ease of cueing etc. I prefer vinyl, but in reality I tend to use both (my CDs tend to just be 320kbps mp3 rare tracks burnt to
CD-rs ;) ).
Dave_g: I've never experienced clicks on my mixer (Vestax PMC-270a), although I have on cheaper ones. It works so well I sometimes uses them as kill switches. If they did crackle, surely you could trim/level down that channel to mute, flick the switch then level back up? Kudos on modding you mixer though :)
Hanal: Yes, I've not had a go on the DJM 600, but the built in effects are meant to be as good as a dedicated fx unit rather than the cheap fx you get on lower end mixers. Matt Black of Coldcut swears by the DJM 600, if you've got the cash I say go for it. Ask if you can demo one in store first, it's not unreasonable when you're laying out that sort of money!

ceri no, i should explain better, you mod the switches so that you can flick them many times a second to use as an effect when scratching, similar to crabbing, but you can do synchronised 'uzi's on the channel switch and the record to get a cool effect. for anyone who doesn't know, an uzi is where you place your hand on the vinyl and cause the muscle in your arm to spasm so it does lots of small v.fast movements, but hurts after a while.
