drukqs = new style

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-18 16:17 [#00043293]

who else is tired of people on the board for bagging drukqs
for 'not being as good as the rdj album'?
its different. hes experimenting as much as ever. and the
piano tracks ARE good.
unless you dont have an open mind and just want striaght out
drill and bass.
i think drukqs is great!
give it a chance.
when i first heard rdj album i was dissapointed for it not
having the same sound as 'i care because you do' but now it
has grown to be one of my favorites.

anyone else please post your oppinion, possitive or
negative.

I dig it... but in my heart i know that rdj just spewed a
bunch of tracks onto a cd so he could relase his last warp
album. but, its still rdj, and i love it.. fuckin bump it in
my truck all the time.. one second its some chill ass piano
overature... then its fuckin DRILL AND BASS IN YOUR FUCKING
ASS boom booom bbiianitntia
ibobobmbomaobmititiantamtmibmmaiom ahhhhh

Love it

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-18 16:41 [#00043302]

yeah yeah.
but whats this problem hes having with warp i keep hearing
about??
im usually up to date on my info but im lacking in this one.
whats the deal?

and ive said it before. 'i think he should drop aphex twin
for a while and bring afx up to the same level in
popularity, that would be a great accomplishment'.

Narkotic from Orange County, California, USA on 2001-10-18 16:51 [#00043308]

well.. its in a few interviews... i gathered that he wanted
to release DrukQs on Rephlex, but Warp said no no because he
owed them one more album. So he just dumped a bunch of
tracks and made drukqs. IT was gonna be somethin like 3-4
cd's but that was just overkill he was saying, he wants to
save some for a new album and maybe release it on his AFX
alias, even though he perfers his aphex twin alias for his
more "experimental stuff". He isn't really friends with
anyone at warp any more, and he isn't really into all the
other music that the label is putting out.

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-18 16:55 [#00043309]

soooo... his new rephlex/afx shite's ganna kick me in the
ol' pipes eh?

Narkotic from Orange County, California, USA on 2001-10-18 16:59 [#00043310]

i hope so..but i'll stick with autechre

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-18 17:01 [#00043311]

oh yeah, they're steady with thier releases too.
one a year so far. busy busy busy.
loved confield but i think ep7 is tops.

Henry from Sweden on 2001-10-18 17:02 [#00043312]

The fact that he just released 30 songs to make a last warp
release doesn't disturb me at all. its good and its very
experimental.
anyway, i didnt like the rdj album the first time i heard
it. but now i love it, so u have to learn how to listen to
the music every time rdj releases something new!

Narkotic from Orange County, California, USA on 2001-10-18 17:03 [#00043313]

yeah, I dont think you'll ever hear autechre putting a happy
birthday message from their parents on their next release.

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-18 17:08 [#00043314]

oh i dont mind lornaderek so much, think its cute.
i just hope that the new afx stuff wont be as hard to find
as it has been.
i can find all the analogue bubblebath stuff. 'cept vol.4 i
bought the 1st and only copy i ever saw. it was worth it.

Taxi on 2001-10-18 18:26 [#00043332]

Actually, that Lornaderek thing was an idea RDJ stole from
Autechre...

They did it on Pencha (from Cichli Suite). All the sounds
used were chopped up bits of happy birthday answering
machine messages.

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-19 02:55 [#00043532]

i just read the groode interview and richard says some of
the stuff on drukqs is over 7 years old!
so alot of it is stuff that just never got released.

aphex twin anthology anyone??

Baron Von Picklefoot from The Baron Got a new computer !!!! on 2001-10-19 03:38 [#00043541]

bingo

phil from TENNESSEE on 2001-10-19 05:44 [#00043560]

I have always looked to RDJ for inspiration...I could sit
and be astounded by the originality and otherworldlyness of
the streams of sound. New style? I am not going to even
buy this album--I believe I will start listening to Miles
Davis-I've got to find something to fill in where aphex once
was. So long Richard.

Pusher of the Square from Mars on 2001-10-19 06:20 [#00043562]

Wow phil, read my mind. When I heard Aphex Twin was making a
new album I was like whoa, this will be neat. Then I listen
to it and it really lags. There are maybe four songs that I
like, but the rest of the songs seen to just fill up track
space then to entertain. I dont think this one will grow on
me. Nice to know someone feels the same way I do for a
change. Some call it drukqs i call it:

ithinkIamgoingtobuysomeoldsquarepusherkqs

at least that name makes more sense then rdj new
tracklistings

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-19 07:23 [#00043579]

dont worry guys the new afx stuff is sure to be killer.
he said himself that its some of his best comercial work
ever.
'some real great dance stuff'
i cant wait for that.

Pusher of the Square from Mars on 2001-10-19 09:58 [#00043606]
