What does everyone think about this song... I think it's
fucking weird... and strange... yet cool... for some reason
I seem to enjoy it, yet it makes no sense...

I read a cool quote somewhere though in a review for Draft
7.30... something about Autechre doing stuff with beats that
Timbalind and The Neptunes haven't even dreamed about...
cool quote though...

I found it to be really obscure...it seems to hang in there
with no antecedents. I found it painfully abstruse. Note,
I...maybe I am just being crazy and not seeing the
brilliance for what it is, but if there is brilliance in
there...they sure did do a good job of hiding it from me.

nacmat, how do you actually manage to align the words
vertically ? In this box, what I type is rarely what gets
displayed...atleast as far as alignment goes...

this is the only track is sometimes skip. it's my least
favorite from the album.

similar to bine imo.

My sentiments exactly.

Except... I love Bine so much. Makes me feel like I'm
covered in goo.

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2003-05-08 16:05 [#00690185]
Points: 5079 Status: Lurker

yeah I agree-this and Bine are two annoying tracks I have to
skip (though Tapr is slightly more interesting)...

I can't see how you could say it has a "beautiful melody"
lol! I know it's subjective, but still-it's some dissonant
chords over some pretty amazing textures for around four
minutes.

i love tapr is one of my fav of the album
it sounds like vanguard dissonant chamber music played by
robots.it's very good.

best song on draft 7.30 ..though it's tough to say that with
iv vv iv vv viii being there

followed by
xylin room

surripere does not need to be that long.. it doesnt go
anywhere, so why the extra 5 minutes??

offline slint on 2003-05-08 16:13 [#00690203]
Points: 777 Status: Regular

surripere is really the magnum opus of the cd.
one of ae best song ever in my opinion.

I garantee you wouldnt be saying that if it weren't an
eleven minute song

sure if the song would last 4 minutes i wouldn't like it so
much.i like long tracks and surripere also changes a lot.

I don't see why people dislike TAPR so much. it has one of
the clearest melodies I have heard in any ae-track - I'd
thought that would appeal to people.

I don't see why people like surripere so much. does nothing
for me.

P:.NTIL is my current fave, though.

offline pachi from yo momma (United States) on 2003-05-08 17:34 [#00690275]

i still usually skip TAPR

i like odd sounds, but TAPR is probably a little much for me
at the mo. maybe it'll grow on me sometime in the future.

i first thought "bine" when i heard tapr.

sort of like a bine2 almost. though they are still very
different. but still similar in few ways.

i dont find tapr that "difficult". after hearing confield, i
just went "yeah. yep. thats ae."

still, quite a cool track.

i love tapr... sounds like a demented pianist and a guy with
a tuba going sick... i love that... loads better than
Bine... not saying that Bine wasnt good or nothing, but Tapr
is a lot more listenable

current fave is theme of sudden rbout

I dont even know which one tapr is. I mean I just listen to
the whole album and dont really feel I am listening to 10
diferent tracks... it just flows during an hour through
diferent moments... which one is tapr?

TAPR is the "segment" that has a drum loop that sounds like
a kick-stomp-clap combo followed by a bouncy ball type drum
roll

i like every song on draft 7.30 one way or another, at
different times. this is how it goes with any autechre album
i listen to.

still like confield more, but draft is definitely nice for
sure.

they are just really different to me

I really like this track... and it ain't too long, so it's
not like it drags on or anything... but after listening to
it a bit, there is a melody there that seems to make
sense... I find the track really interesting and stuff,
cause it sounds so strange... I also love that little 80's
style hand clap sound that's used in it... I smile when I
hear it, I find that amusing for some reason... :)

my feelings about surripere though is that they easily
could've cut it down to 7 or 8 minutes... THEN it would've
been among my favorites from the album... as it is, the
extra few minutes just seem to ruin it for me... it drags on
for too long

Mirwais...not to mention Cher use them all the time. Cher
rocks. :p

Tapr is the first track I go for whenever I play Draft,
lately. Currently my favorite on the album, followed by
P.:Ntil and Xylin Room.

I like Surripere up until 3:58. Then the rest bores the piss
out of me. I love the beginning of V-Proc. I think it's one
of the best "powering up" sequences in a track, especially
the part at 00:32 when this odd vocal sounding thing sweeps
in for a second. Sounds really beautiful.

I enjoy this album.
