I also watched this movie last night... and although I did enjoy what was there, it was only 50 minutes or so long!!! Come on... I thought there must've been something wrong with my copy of it, but probably not... it was enjoyable no doubt, I especially liked the scenes where Mozart and Serinelli (sp?) were working on the piece of music... but, it was far too short... lots of things could've been expanded upon in my opinion...

that is really weird though... I just put the dvd in, and it played automatically... didn't even go to the menu first... and then after 50 minutes the credits came up...
Heh, after like 40 minutes or so, Mozart had died and I was like "What the fuck?"
:)

"50 minutes long"?!?! aaaaaahahahha
maybe it's like what happens sometimes when my computer has all the RAM used up. a video or audio file, or even a DVD, will skip a lot and what was once a 2 minute scene is 30 seconds of stop-and-start madness.
how you couldn't have noticed the difference is beyond me?!?
maybe you had an accidental playlist of only certain scenes.

i'm glad they didn't do this historic record style. it's among my favorite films not because of the reality of it, because the direction and acting and all were just great.

wow major difference of opinion. i grew up listening to classical and opera.....i love it AS much as modern music.
you should give it another try, lots of musicians get inspiration from classical composeurs....aka NIN, AFX....=0)

f. murray abraham (antonio salieri) was the one who won the academy award. tom hulce (mozart) has done crap since and before then (well...unless you liked the voice of quasimodo in disney's adaptation of the hunchback of notre dame). hah.
and the music was conducted by one sir neville mariner.
i love this movie. and i recall saying somewhere in this thread that the other half of the movie was on the other side of the disc. you gooner. =P

I have the extended version DVD and it's like 171min long, but anyway the point is salieri didn't kill mozart, but he was driven crazy by him so much that he really wanted to kill him, and when mozart died, salieri figured he had killed him through music.
DON'T YOU GET IT!!!

remember it's a story. Salieri's involvement in his death was not necessarily true.
