drukqs - cd protected?

andreas.de from paris, france on 2001-10-17 12:40 [#00042610]

hey,

i just read that drukqs (cd) will be protected against
illegal copying. so it will be inpossible to play the cds
on computer cd-rom drives.

can anyone confim this?

fresch from school on 2001-10-17 12:47 [#00042613]

that's until some nerd figures it out...

Chunkypump from Australia on 2001-10-17 13:34 [#00042616]

No, not true, played mine on the PC, no probs.

Sepix from european realm on 2001-10-17 14:22 [#00042622]

i can confirm
the cd is not playable on computers,
also some cd players may not recognize it
there`s a a warning on the backsleeve from the album
there are 2 ways round this protection (all new zomba
releases use this protection i.e. the latest neubauten cd)
i won?t tell because it`s that easy - find out yourself
btw. its easily playable on apple macs ;)
cheerS

celine from the netherlands on 2001-10-17 14:36 [#00042625]

U can also get the whole cd from kazaa.com. I already have
it! And I like it!

teapot. from bwisbane on 2001-10-17 14:37 [#00042626]

i just played mine on my shitty 586...
and there doesn't appear to be a warning on the back of the
australian release...

but isn't it legal to make 1 copy of a cd? im sure it is...
as long as its for personal use..

Sepix from european realm on 2001-10-17 15:31 [#00042634]

i don`t hink that there are different releases from the
album.
that`s what my backside says: "Made in the EU. PC 47. LC
02070. THIS CD IS NOT PLAYABLE ON COMPUTERS"
greetS

teapot. from bwisbane on 2001-10-17 15:42 [#00042636]

the back of the australian one has nothing like that, except
credits, and that aphex trademark of aphex systems thing...

andreas.de from paris, france on 2001-10-17 15:52 [#00042638]

i wonder if this was warp's idea or the idea of its
distributers.... it isn't cool at all, anyway....

Sepix,

Your anus can talk ?

psgen from united kingdom on 2001-10-17 15:55 [#00042640]

I'm sick of all this shit. MP3 SHARING IS HERE TO FUCKING
STAY.

The tactics used to prevent it aren't going to stop it
whatsoever, it's just going to make it more difficult and
more frustrating. But it only makes me more determined to
beat these cunts. POWER TO THE PEOPLE, OH HELL YES.

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-17 15:58 [#00042642]

my girlfriends dad owns a program that can bypass it.
im not worried.

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-17 16:00 [#00042643]

its legal to make copies as long as no profit is made from
it.

Plux from Sweden on 2001-10-17 16:03 [#00042645]

I HATE that copyprotection.... what is does is cripple the
audio.... you can't hear the jittet, but your cdrom reads
it.. and fails... but the idé.... cripple the audio...
that's sick...... :/

Sepix from european realm on 2001-10-17 16:47 [#00042684]

no my anus can`t talk

Creosote from UK on 2001-10-17 17:37 [#00042819]

I'm very sceptical about what the protection does, and
anyway theres hundreds of PC utilities that will get around
that, it's just an inconvenience for untechnical people who
probably wouldn't be trying to copy it anyway.

Narkotic from Orange County, California, USA on 2001-10-17 17:38 [#00042823]

I dont know if there will be a "software" override,
considering that the protections is all HARDWARE based. Just
doing a plain redbook cd audio read does not require
software. This copyright makes a physical limitation of the
reader to read it period. But, of course there will be
SOMETHING.. hehe

</sine707> from Frankfurt/Germany on 2001-10-23 23:02 [#00044841]

I also got my album today (at last) and it also says: THIS
CD IS NOT PLAYABLE ON COMPUTERS.

But when I tried to grab it, it worked....

?!?!?!?

Narkotic from Orange County, California, USA on 2001-10-23 23:15 [#00044848]

Depends on your cd-rom type. Some will, some wont. Thats a
givin

dronox from www.dronox.com on 2001-10-23 23:27 [#00044854]

I think that's fucking rediculous that Rich would do that to
his cd... I mean, in previous interviews he's stated that he
himself downloads mp3s [or at least that's what he's told
interviewers]... I mean, fuck, by putting copyright
protection on this wont make any difference, seeing as the
albums allready been pirated all over the web for a few
months- if people are gonna go and download it, they will go
right ahead, and allready have!

*Weeps*

Oh, and this shit will be easy to bypass anyway, lol.

XP is supposedly uncrackable blah blah well I got my *cough*
copy *cough cough* a few weeks ago.

werd!

Narkotic from Orange County, California, USA on 2001-10-23 23:30 [#00044858]

it's not rich, its warp records.

</sine707> from Frankfurt/Germany on 2001-10-23 23:35 [#00044860]

i don't even think it's warp.

seems to be zomba, 'cause from what I read I can tell that
ONLY european copies got this stupid protection.

right?

aperson on 2001-10-23 23:36 [#00044862]

Might be, I'm in the US, no warning, works fine on my
computer.

dronox from www.dronox.com on 2001-10-24 00:12 [#00044870]

ahh, tru tru- warp not rich.

od from perth on 2001-10-24 04:10 [#00044934]

ok rF has drukQs
he brought it over, worked fine on my PC
we didnt try to copy it or anythgin so i dunno if its write
protected.
how to get past write protection:
open the CD in winamp and set the output to the wav out
thingy (so when you click a track it runs thru it and makes
it into a wav file)
then use those to burn a CD
if this doesnt work (and it bloody well should) you can
always use a recorder program to record the CD to .wav
files.

from my experience what happend when CDs are copy protected,
it tend to crash your computer. or maybe my burner is just
fucked.
but its happened on certain CDs over n over..... i think
hard normal daddy was one that doesnt wanna work....tried to
burn a copy for my dad

dronox from www.dronox.com on 2001-10-24 11:34 [#00045006]

Here's a bit of interesting stuff...

Copy protection... windows XP... Okay, XP supposedly has
some super amazing super impossible copy protection system
BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Well.
I got my "copy" *winkwink* before the fucking thing was even
officially released.

People allready cracked the damn program before the official
release!

GOD BLESS THE INTERNET :DDD

No way in hell anyone will make a 100% uncrackable cd /
program.

werd!

Chrispy from UK on 2001-10-24 11:43 [#00045010]

damn straight. My English copy hasnt got any warnings on the
back and I'm listening to it at work on my PC.

It's probably a joke.

</sine707> from Frankfurt/Germany on 2001-10-26 11:03 [#00045683]

No, unfortunately it's not.

When I first tried it, I wasn't supposed to play the CD from
my PC either, but when I updated my CD-ROM firmware it
worked :-)

Chrispy from UK on 2001-10-26 11:09 [#00045684]

How weird. It's like, *whats the point?* aint it?
