Yeah, I need help figuring out how to help allocate RAM to
specific programs.

I don't know much about Macs and I'm having a heck of a time
finding any information in the booklets.

btw, I'm running a MAC G4 with OS:IX.

Any help would be much obliged, thxs.

under OS9, it's easy:

· select the icon of the application you want to allocate
RAM to (it mustn't be running of course)
· press apple-I (get information)
· then you'll have access to a window with a menu,
including three boxes showing the RAM recommended to run the
application, the minimum RAM needed to run the application,
and the RAM you wish to allocate to the application!

Thxs for the response, it half worked. But, I was actually
planning on switching over to OS X, would you be able to
explain how to allocate RAM on X?

And another question....When I hit apple+i on AOL IM the
memory option came up, but when I tried allocating memory to
Adobe Photoshop, the internet, or even iTunes, only 'General
Information' popped up.

So if it's not too much to ask, could you explain how to do
it with OS X.

OS X allocates RAM automatically. You can no longer set it:
virtual memory is turned on at all times and the OS
determines how much memory is needed in each application.
Makes things a bit easier.

patrik > OS9 also has its advantages!
you can have kaleidoscope, to get a custom interface...
when you dl pictures from the internet, you can get the
source by appe-I on their icons (which isn't anymore on
osX)... and you have more control too...

though osX has more advantages i think.
